If there’s one thing we love at Dished, it’s a brand-new restaurant on the scene, and Calgary has plenty to get excited about.

With a ton of new openings recently and so many more on the horizon, things are heating up in the city, and our to-eat lists are growing by the day.

We’ve compiled a handy list of some of Calgary’s most recent restaurants, bars and cafes as well as those that are expected to open soon.

When sister concept Primary Colours closed earlier this summer, it was teased that something new and exciting was in the works from Monogram Coffee.

Now, the coffee favourite has officially opened its new flagship location in Britannia. With more space, a full kitchen, an in-house bakery and some exclusive sips, it’s an extremely exciting move.

State & Main, the Calgary-based restaurant chain, opened its third location in the city’s Uxborough neighbourhood on Sept. 1.

If you’re unfamiliar with the spot, State & Main is a go-to for handcrafted cocktails and comfort food, all with a casual and relaxed vibe.

After closing its Kensington outpost after two decades, Calgarians didn’t have to wait for too long before Crave Cupcakes opened its brand-new storefront just down the street in Hillhurst.

The new location is also home to Crave’s newest concept, CeCe’s Coffee, which offers Monogram Coffee, a selection of teas, and a light café menu for those looking to take a seat and relax.

Seoul Fried Chicken

Just a few weeks after its closure, Seoul Fried Chicken is officially back in business in Calgary.

The Edmonton-based Korean fried chicken spot shared the exciting update on Instagram that it had reopened its 4th Street SW outpost.

“Calgary, we’re back and better than ever,” the restaurant said in its post.

Coco Cabana Club, a new tropical-themed bar, is opening on Calgary’s bustling 17th Avenue, where it is promising island-style cocktails, beach vibes, and late-night parties.

The spot will have a menu of signature cocktails, each taking inspiration from warmer climates as well as classics such as Pina Coladas and Mai Tais. It’s also going to be a must-visit for chicken wing lovers with a whopping 70+ wing flavours.

Taking over the previous Mondays Plant Cafe space, Canela Vegan Bakery & Cafe is gearing up to open its second location.

The spot offers an enormous selection of vegan goods such as pastries, cakes, cookies, savoury treats, and more, all made without any animal products or by-products.

Another new addition to Bridgeland’s foodie scene is the highly anticipated second YYC outpost of Rosie’s Burgers.

The popular spot, which hails from Ontario, offers eats such as smash burgers, chicken sandwiches, crinkle-cut fries, poutine and onion rings.

Chocoberry, a U.K.-born chain, is gearing up to open its first Canadian location in Calgary’s Kensington neighbourhood.

The cozy concept is known for its all-day brunch, handcrafted desserts and specialty coffee.

After a vanishing act from Calgary’s dining scene, it appears as if Tony Roma’s is preparing for a comeback.

No opening date for the location has been revealed just yet, with the signage simply reading “coming soon,” so Calgarians will need to wait to get their hands on its ribs.

Monki Breakfast Club & Bistro is gearing up to open its fifth location in the city, this time heading to the southeast.

“We’re thrilled to announce that we’re opening a brand new Monki location in Seton — just steps from South Health Campus,” Monki said in an Instagram post.

Popular pop-up Francine’s has revealed that its first permanent brick-and-mortar location will be opening in Calgary’s Chinatown this year.

“Our permanent home — built on a strong foundation of brown butter and martinis — is coming to you this fall,” Francine’s said in an Instagram post.
