Popular Calgary neighbourhood restaurant is closing its doors this month

It’s sad news for Calgary foodies, as one of the city’s most popular neighbourhood restaurants has revealed it will be closing its doors this month.

Primary Colours, the cozy neighbourhood restaurant in Britannia, has sadly announced its final service will take place on June 22.

“To our amazing Calgary community: we’ve made the tough decision to close the doors of Primary Colours, with our final service taking place during brunch on Sunday, June 22,” the restaurant said in an Instagram post.

The restaurant is a sister spot to the city’s ever-popular Monogram Coffee, where it serves a daytime brunch menu and dinner service, using Asian-Canadian flavours and techniques.

Primary Colours first opened under the leadership of Chef Matthias Fong in 2023.

“To our incredible team, our regulars, our neighbourhood, and everyone who’s pulled up a chair — thank you. We can’t wait to welcome you in for a few more memorable meals,” the restaurant said.

While the end of Primary Colours will be a huge loss for the city’s food scene, the restaurant has teased what will be next for the space.

“Be sure to stay tuned for what’s next from our friends at Monogram,” it added.
