Megabite Pizza, one of Vancouver’s go-to pizzerias, has officially closed the doors to its Granville location.

“Dear Vancouver, thank you for every slice, every laugh, and every late night. Whether you found us at lunch or at 2 a.m., you kept showing up — and we can’t tell you how much that means to us. It has been an honour to be your go-to spot on the strip for over 15 years,” wrote Megabite on its website.

The pizzeria also added that this is not a goodbye, but a “see you at our other locations.” Currently, Megabite operates a location on Commercial and Broadway, as well as outposts in Port Coquitlam and Burnaby.

The beloved restaurant announced the closure in a press release, stating that it had made the “difficult decision to close its doors,” with the final day of service set for Sunday, Aug. 23.

According to Fable Diner, it was unable to secure a favourable long-term lease or negotiate its ongoing financial obligations in a manner that would allow it to stay open.

“With the delayed completion of the nearby Broadway Subway station and no definite completion date confirmed, the current terms did not allow the business to continue operating sustainably through this period,” explained the establishment.

After a five-year run, the team behind COFU announced the closure of its Granville Island location.

“Five years ago, we opened our doors at 1833 Anderson St. to introduce Vancouver to its very first plant-based pressed sushi. From our very first day, your support, warmth, and dedication to our culinary vision have meant everything to Owner and Chef Akiko and our entire team,” wrote the restaurant on its Instagram.

However, folks looking for COFU’s signature plant-based pressed sushi are still in luck, as it shared that it will be moving its plant-based pressed sushi operations to its primary home in Chinatown at 488 Gore Ave. as of Oct. 1. This is the home of Canada’s first vegan omakase, as well as the team’s coffee store concept Hush.

Additionally, the team shared that they plan to launch a new venture in the space, scheduled to launch later this fall. More details on the new concept are expected to be shared soon.

However, the team did share that it is actively looking for a new location and will update folks on Instagram if it finds one.

After a brief run, the team over atĀ Sweet TalkĀ in Port Moody has announced that its late-night bar concept is taking an indefinite pause.

“We’ve decided to shut it down and shift our focus on other parts of the business that we feel need just a little more thought and care right now,” wrote Sweet Talk Bar on Instagram.

Before you worry too much, Sweet Talk Donuts (a.k.a. the home of one ofĀ Metro Vancouver’s best breakfast sandwiches), which operates in the same space, will remain open.

“It’s not goodbye forever. We’ll continue to work away in the background, developing new ways to deliver good food and drinks to our guests, it just might look a little different next time,” added the bar on Instagram. The graphic for the Instagram post reads “Closed for now…,” so we hope it won’t be too long of a pause before we’ll be able to visit whatever new idea the team is cooking up.

After five years of operating in Surrey,Ā Ruex Cafe and Bar has closed its doors.

“What started as a dream became so much more than a cafe. It became a place filled with friendships, celebrations, laughter, and countless memories. None of it would have been possible without the unwavering support of our community,” wrote Ruex in a post on Instagram that has since garnered over a thousand likes.

Ruex was an Australian-inspired brunch restaurant situated on the corner of King George and Fraser Highway that brought Melbourne mid-morning meal vibes to Metro Vancouver. Some popular items here included the Pork Belly Eggs Benedict, Biscoff French Toast, and a Bruschetta Avocado Toast with chilli ricotta, nut-free pesto-marinated tomatoes, and crispy basil.

“While it’s never easy to say goodbye to something we’ve poured our hearts into, we’re excited to embrace whatever comes next. It’s time to hang up our aprons, switch off the coffee machine one last time, and begin a new adventure,” added the restaurant.
