After a five-year run, the team behind COFU announced the closure of its Granville Island location.

“Five years ago, we opened our doors at 1833 Anderson St. to introduce Vancouver to its very first plant-based pressed sushi. From our very first day, your support, warmth, and dedication to our culinary vision have meant everything to Owner and Chef Akiko and our entire team,” wrote the restaurant on its Instagram.

However, folks looking for COFU’s signature plant-based pressed sushi are still in luck, as it shared that it will be moving its plant-based pressed sushi operations to its primary home in Chinatown at 488 Gore Ave. as of Oct. 1. This is the home of Canada’s first vegan omakase, as well as the team’s coffee store concept Hush.

Our original location at 1833 Anderson St. will remain open for service through September 28th (Monday). We invite you to visit us over the coming weeks as we celebrate five wonderful years in Granville Island,” added the restaurant.

Additionally, the team shared that they plan to launch a new venture in the space, scheduled to launch later this fall. More details on the new concept are expected to be shared soon.

“We remain deeply grateful for your continued loyalty and look forward to welcoming you at COFU Chinatown and introducing our next project very soon,” concluded the restaurant.
