We asked our readers where to get the best breakfast sandwich in Vancouver

Jun 28 2026, 2:30 pm

What makes a good breakfast sandwich? That’s a difficult question to answer. The purists would say that there’s nothing better than a bacon, egg, and cheese on an English muffin, while others are in search of something more luxurious, like a croissant piled high with pork belly and avocado.

In our opinion, there’s really no wrong answer. But, Vancouver does have a plethora of breakfast sandwich options, which begs the question: where is the best place to enjoy the beloved handheld?

That’s why we asked our readers where to get the best breakfast sandwich in Vancouver, and they delivered some great answers.

From mortadella and Swiss on croissants to pork belly and garlic aioli, these are the best breakfast sandwiches in Vancouver, according to our readers.

This Vancouver-based food truck and bacon purveyor was easily one of the most recommended spots for breakfast sandwiches in and around the city, and with options like its Crack Sandwich (choice of maple sausage or thick-cut bacon with a fried egg, havarti, candied jalapeños, tomato relish, and aioli made with lemon, garlic, and thyme), we’re not surprised.

The Belly from Bam Bam (Marco Ovies/Dished)

One of the new kids on the block, Bam Bam is not only serving up some great fried chicken sandwiches and donuts, but also a lineup of divine breakfast sandwiches. We’re particularly fond of The Belly, a handheld consisting of pork belly, black garlic glaze, garlic aioli, a fried egg, Swiss, and pickled red onions.

Address: 160 W. Georgia St., Vancouver

Hunnybee Bruncheonette

Folks who frequent TikTok will not be surprised to see Hunnybee’s breakfast sandwich make the list. This sando is made with a fried egg, cheese, tomato, herb aioli, and choice of ham or avocado served between thick slices of grilled sourdough.

Address: 789 Gore Ave., Vancouver

Northern Cafe and Grill

A self-proclaimed hidden gem since 1949, Northern Cafe and Grill is not one to sleep on when it comes to brunch favourites, handmade dumplings, and Asian-inspired comfort food. There’s plenty on the menu to be excited about, but when it comes to breakfast sandwiches, the Breakfast Clubhouse Sandwich is where it’s at. And yes, you should add the creamy bearnaise dip.

Nemesis

The Morty Supreme from Nemesis (Marco Ovies/Dished)

The Morty Supreme breakfast sandwich has reached icon status in Vancouver’s food scene, and for good reason, too. A croissant supreme is sliced in two and filled with mortadella, Swiss, mustard aioli, and a fried egg. It’s saucy and all sorts of delicious. Though we recently enjoyed a Hashbrown Sando (brioche bun, kimchi hashbrown, Calabrian chili aioli, a fried egg, Swiss, and pickled onions) at Nemesis’ Surrey Pavilion location, which is also worth ordering.

Hard Bean Brunch Co.

Fried egg, lettuce, Swiss cheese (we’re starting to notice a trend with Swiss, is this the ultimate breakfast sandwich cheese?), “hard mayo,” and choice of bacon, ham, or avocado is what makes up the breakfast sandwich at Hard Bean Brunch Co.

Social Crust Cafe

What makes the breakfast sandwiches here special is the addition of sauteed kale. You’ll find all your classic options like bacon, avocado, egg and cheese, and more served up on a classic English muffin.

Say Hey Cafe

You won’t be surprised to hear that the team behind some of Vancouver’s best sandwiches also serve up kick-ass breakfast sandwiches. We’re particularly fond of the Oochee Mama, a sando made with bacon, Applewood smoked cheddar, smoky chili mayo, pickled serranos, hot banana peppers, and chili garlic oil.

Address: 156 E. Pender St., Vancouver

Cafeclub.

Their Vancouver cafe might be best known for its rotating selection of matcha, but make sure you don’t sleep on its breakfast offerings. Simply dubbed the Breakfast Sando, it’s made with a chive steamed egg, Gouda cheese, arugula, caramelized onions, dijonnaise, and served on a sesame brioche bun.

What makes this breakfast sandwich noteworthy is the combo of soft scrambled eggs with scamorza, pickled onions, and spicy mayo. You can add mortadella to it if you want a little extra protein, but it’s always fantastic without.

Mishmish’s signature ka’ak bagel is already good on its own, but reaches new heights when it’s topped with tomato, arugula, sumac-dill mayo, and egg.

We hate to break it to you, but your time with Their There’s Mortadella breakfast sandwich (mortadella, scrambled egg, Swiss cheese, crispy onions, and tabasco aioli) is coming to an end when the cafe closes its doors this September. Be sure to stop by for breakfast, and pick up a doughnut on your way out, too.

Address: 2042 W. 4th Ave., Vancouver

Bells and Whistles

Bells and Whistles might not be the first spot that comes to mind when thinking of breakfast sandwiches. But we definitely recommend hitting up the sports bar for its All Day Breakfast sandwich, which is stacked high with a maple sausage patty, hash browns, American cheese, fried egg, and secret sauce.

Honourable mention: Sweet Talk Donuts

Sweet Talk’s breakfast game is on point. Easy recommendations include the Truffle Bacon Egg and Parmesan (scrambled eggs, bacon, chives, Parmesan cheese, truffle mayo on a brioche bun) and the Smash Sausage egg and Cheese (scrambled eggs, smashed sausage patty, chives, American cheese, and sriracha mayo on a brioche bun). But if you miss breakfast, don’t worry, as the spot doubles as a bar on Fridays and Saturdays starting at 6 p.m.
