'Beyond our control': Burnaby all-you-can-eat hot spot announces closure to much dismay
It’s been a tough stretch for Metro Vancouver foodies as the list of local restaurant closures continues to grow, and now we can add popular dining destination Porker Face to the list.
The Burnaby all-you-can-eat hot spot announced its closure on social media with a poster stating, “This is not a decision we wanted to make, but due to circumstances beyond our control, our journey at this location is coming to an end.”
According to Porker Face, its 10-year lease has come to an end, and it is “finally time to close this chapter.
Guests are still able to visit the restaurant at 4455 Lougheed Highway until Saturday, Aug. 15.

Porker Face was opened in 2024 by the same team behind Sooda Korean Bistro, which currently operates locations in Burnaby and Vancouver and gained popularity after itsĀ 18-inch sushi rollĀ went viral.
A staff member handles all of the prep work, so you donāt have to. Theyāll turn on your grill, and once itās hot, start cooking your pork belly and other sides like onions, mushrooms, and spicy bean sprouts. Once cooked, they returned with a pair of scissors to cut our pork belly into individual bite-sized pieces.

Each piece of pork belly is cooked sous-vide beforehand, greatly reducing the cooking time on the grill.
Fans of Porker Face shared their sadness over the impending closure of the Korean BBQ spot specializing in pork belly.
“Aww man, you guys will be missed,” said one person.
“Noooooooooooooo, I loved this place,” shared another.

Porker Face thanked their fans for all of their support, adding that while they are sad to say goodbye, they will always remember where everything started.
“Over the past 10 years, this space has been filled with countless memories ā first as SOODA, and then as Porkerface,” the restaurant said.
“To every guest who walked through our doors, supported us, celebrated with us, and became part of our story: Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
The news of the pork belly restaurant’s closure came one day after it was revealed that the popular Fable Diner location will soon close in Mount Pleasant.

The beloved restaurant announced the closure in a press release, stating that it had made the “difficult decision to close its doors,” with the final day of service set for Sunday, Aug. 23.
According to Fable Diner, it was unable to secure a favourable long-term lease or negotiate its ongoing financial obligations in a manner that would allow it to stay open.
