We hope you’re hungry, Vancouver, because whether it’s a new restaurant, bar, or cafe, there are plenty of openings to look forward to.

With so many restaurants announcing openings in and around the city, it can be hard to keep track of all the upcoming eats to be had, which is why we’ve compiled this list of some of the most anticipated restaurants and cafes coming to our neck of the woods.

Among these new eateries are world-famous noodle joints, concepts from a four-time Iron Chef Canada winner, and so many new locations from a self-serve hot pot chain.

So, start texting the group chat to make those dinner reservations, or block off a chunk in your calendar for a little solo date, because your next favourite Vancouver restaurant might be opening sooner than you think.

Foodies in and around Vancouver may remember the hype when Marugame Udon — a.k.a. “Japan’s favourite handmade udon house” — first shared that it would be coming to Canada, with its first restaurant slated for Vancouver.

Opening day saw long lines, and many more lines in the days after, of hungry Vancouverites wanting to get their hands on the beloved (and affordable) bowls of udon that Marugame has become so well known for.

Now, the brand is poised to expand with three new locations across Canada — one of which is right here in Metro Vancouver.

Signs for the udon chain have popped up at CF Richmond Centre’s new outdoor retail development called “Park Plaza,” a brand-new high-density, mixed-use residential and commercial district currently taking shape on the property. An opening date has yet to be announced.
