Team behind Michelin-recommended Vancouver restaurant to open new upscale casual Thai eatery

Ever since Zab Bite opened in 2023, it’s been the talk of the town. For starters, it opened to fanfare for its E-Sarn cuisine, which is a specific regional cuisine of Northern Thailand known for its spicy and sour flavours. Then, quickly after, it received a Michelin-recommended award. Now, just two years after it opened its doors, the head chef and co-owner of the spot is gearing up to open a new restaurant called Charm.
“In Thai, Charm (ŕ¸ŕ¸˛ŕ¸Ą) means ‘bowl’ â a vessel for food that symbolizes the way Thai meals are traditionally shared and the hospitality we wish to bring to every table. In English, the word reflects the warmth and welcoming atmosphere we want our guests to experience,” the restaurant said to Dished.
We’re told to expect an upscale casual restaurant rooted in authentic Thai flavours presented with a polished touch.
As opposed to Zab Bite, which focuses on E-Sarn cuisine, you can expect a wide range of signature dishes from across Thailand. Additionally, portions will be designed for sharing, making it great for a casual dinner with friends or a special night out.
“To complement the food, we’re developing a beverage program that includes a curated wine selection, chosen to pair naturally with the bold, layered flavours of Thai cuisine,” added the restaurant. There will also be a selection of cocktails that we’re told will reflect the vibrancy and spirit of Thai dining.
