Local donut shop to open in former Cartems Donuts Vancouver location
It was a sad day when we reported that Cartems Donuts, which had been supplying Metro Vancouver with donuts for fourteen years, announced that it would be closing the remainder of its locations. And since Cartems had closed up shop, we had begun to wonder what would eventually fill the donut-shaped hole it left behind. Well, now we know.
North Vancouver’s Cream Pony announced on Instagram that it would be moving into the former Cartems Donuts Vancouver location at 2190 Main St., Vancouver.
“We are so freaking excited to announce that Cream Pony is coming to Mount Pleasant!” shared Cream Pony on Instagram. “Mount Pleasant has been my home for past 6 years and I still cannot believe that our lil pony will be joining the neighbourhood!”

For those unfamiliar, Cream Pony serves picture-perfect donuts and fried chicken, a truly amazing combo, if you ask us. This will mark the donut shop’s second location in Metro Vancouver, with its first being in North Vancouver.
In the announcement video, Cream Pony also shared some kind words about the now-closed Cartems Donuts.
“They’re an amazing business, and we really look up to what they’ve done and what they do,” said Cream Pony.

However, Cream Pony did share some concerns with taking over the space of such a beloved Vancouver donut shop.
“To live up to the challenge and the legacy of Cartems is also terrifying, but we’re not scared,” said Cream Pony.
When Cream Pony learned that Cartems was closing, the Cream Pony team knew the building was going to be a hot commodity and that they had to get their hands on it.
“It’s absolutely stunning, and it’s in this incredible area of Vancouver,” said Cream Pony.
An exact opening date for the new location has yet to be announced, but Cream Pony said it should be opening in fall 2025. Be sure to check back here for more details.
