Restaurant specializing in steak frites among 13 new eateries coming to Vancouver

It’s safe to say we’re pretty excited about all the Vancouver restaurants opening soon.
But with so many new openings, it can be hard to keep track of everything coming to the city. That’s why we compiled this list of some of the most anticipated restaurants coming to Vancouver.
Whether you’re looking to try a viral breakfast chain or opting to support one of the many local eateries on this list, these are 13 highly anticipated restaurants opening in Vancouver soon.
Cantina Social Club

Cantina Social Club
A new Mexican cantina-inspired pop-up concept is coming to downtown Vancouver, and it’s brought to you by the team from Chupito.
Called the Cantina Social Club, the pop-up is blending the soul of old-school Mexican drinking houses with the creativity of contemporary Mexican cooking made with ingredients from the Pacific Northwest. The result is what the concept is calling an “ever-evolving dining experience where the menu changes with the seasons, local harvest, and the creative curiosity of the kitchen.”
The pop-up will run every Wednesday through Saturday starting July 22 from 6 p.m. until late out of Pinche Taco Shop at 367 Seymour St., with the space transforming nightly into a lively yet intimate cantina illuminated by candlelight, communal tables, and lush greenery.

Rosalia Osteria

Culinary duo Dom and Frank Morra are doing it again. After bringing multiple much-loved Italian concepts to the city, including Via Tevere, Dante Italian Sandwich, Don’t Argue Pizza, and Straight Outta Brooklyn, the brothers are preparing to launch their latest restaurant, called Rosalia Osteria.
Named after their grandmother Rosalia, the new 33-seat, 600 sq. ft restaurant is opening in the former home of Robba da Matti Yaletown’s outpost.
Here, the team will be serving a pasta-forward menu inspired by the warmth and tradition of Sunday dinner at Nonna’s table. Think shareable antipasti, fresh seasonal salads, classic Italian desserts, and a thoughtfully curated drinks program all anchored by its house-made pasta.

Sumu

“In many ways, Sumu is inspired by the spirit of Japan’s yokocho culture — the warmth, the energy, the sense of community, and the freedom of always being able to find something that satisfies you,” shared owner Alan Cheung to Dished. “By adopting this spirit and blending it with Vancouver’s multicultural dining culture, we wanted to create a space where people can gather, connect, relax, and create lasting memories.”
While construction is still in progress, Cheung shared that customers can expect a 130-seat space equipped with an elegant dining room shaped by thoughtful lighting, a lively bar, spacious seating, and tables designed for conversation and shared moments.
Once open, Sumu will be offering both yakitori and personal hot pots. With these two different offerings, the restaurant hopes that it will be able to bring together people who may be craving different things.
“We know that at the same table, one person may be craving charcoal-grilled skewers, another may want a warm and comforting pot, while someone else may simply want a handcrafted drink with a few creative small dishes. Sumu brings these different tastes, moods, and cravings together, so everyone can enjoy what they truly want while still sharing the same dining experience,” said Cheung.

Eggslut Vancouver

Vancouver is home to plenty of great breakfast sandwiches, and now international chain Eggslut is looking to join the fray when it opens the doors to its first location in the city.
Signs for the new outpost have gone up at 1136 Albeni St., steps away from other heavy-hitter restaurants like Din Tai Fung, Paris Baguette, Touk, and more.
Founded in Los Angeles in 2011, the breakfast destination quickly became popular for its elevated take on classic breakfast sandwiches. Since then, it has expanded throughout the U.S., U.K., Japan, and Australia.

Expected to open sometime this summer, Bevel will be a 2,800 sq. ft. restaurant with 140 seats that is centred around a bar area, alongside a dining room and an all-season patio that will be launching on opening day.
As for menu specifics, Hang said the team is still working on the details and couldn’t share much. However, what she could share was that pizza will be making an appearance, with a dough recipe that Chef Christiansen has been working on for over three years. Expect a selection of New York-style pizza with that signature crispy, thin crust.

Like us, many were surprised when Burgoo announced that it would be closing the doors to its downtown Vancouver location. Now, shortly after the restaurant officially closed its doors, we know what will be taking its place: French Creek Pub.
“What started as a local pub by the harbour on Vancouver Island has grown into something truly special, and we cannot wait to bring the energy, atmosphere, great food, and community spirit of French Creek Pub to the big city,” wrote the pub on its Instagram.
Originally located on Vancouver Island, French Creek Pub has been operating for 40 years, according to its website.
On the menu, you can find a selection of pub favourites. Think burgers, drinks, and award-winning fish and chips.

Maria Celeste

This summer, Vancouver will soon learn what the “spirit of the tasca” means with the opening of Maria Celeste, a new restaurant brought to us by hospitality veterans and brothers Justin and Cristian Isidro, named in tribute to their mother.
Joining the many loved restaurants in Vancouver’s Fraserhood, this will be an intimate, 36-seat Portuguese restaurant that will act as a tribute to Portugal’s cherished tascas, which the team said are “everyday neighbourhood gathering places, where food, wine, and conversation unfold naturally.”
“Tascas were always about more than what was on the table,” said Justin. “They were about the community and being a welcoming place for everyone. Our goal with Maria Celeste is to capture the familial essence that flows through these culinary institutions scattered throughout Portugal. There’s nothing quite like it in Vancouver yet.”

“Golden. Crisp. Generous.” That’s what Benne, the new Vancouver restaurant coming to Kitsilano, is promising, and we couldn’t be more on board.
“Benne is our neighbourhood kitchen inspired by the cafés and homes of South India,” describes the restaurant on its website. “Rooted in tradition and shaped by life in Kitsilano, Benne is a place to gather over good food, great coffee, and warm hospitality.”
Here, the team promises to serve up dosas with house sambar and tomato/coconut chutney, alongside a selection of small plates and filter coffee courtesy of our friends over at Alai Coffee Roasters.

Located at 382 W. Broadway, the restaurant’s signs show that it plans to serve coffee, dosas, and soup.
“A new experience is brewing for you,” the restaurant has written on its sign. Past that, not much is known about the new venture.

Mount Pleasant-based coffee roaster Honest to Pete is expanding its footprint in Vancouver with the opening of its first downtown location in a former JJ Bean space.
You may remember the JJ Bean CBC Plaza location, dubbed “The Shack,” which closed in November 2024. At the time of the closure, JJ Bean cited the pandemic and the following change in downtown culture with remote work as the reason for the closure.
Honest to Pete took to Instagram to share the news that it will be opening in the former JJ Bean spot.
“Cleaning, painting and getting ready for our downtown location!” shared the cafe in the post.

After closing the doors to its original Vancouver location on Denman Street, Ông Bà Vietnamese Eatery is preparing to return in a big way with a larger location set to open in Coquitlam this summer.
Ông Bà shared that this decision to move comes from something deeply personal for the team: the desire to create a space where more people can experience the warmth, comfort, and sense of family that has always been at the heart of the restaurant.
“We wanted to build a place where people can slow down, gather around the table, and create memories together,” said Viet, co-owner and son of the restaurant’s namesakes, who operates it with his wife Quynh. “A space filled with warmth, conversation, and the feeling of being cared for. That’s what our parents taught us — food is not just about eating, it’s about bringing people together like family.”
“Ă”ng BĂ ” means “grandparents” in Vietnamese, with Viet’s grandparents being Bố and Máşą.
The new location will feature more tables to gather with your family, as well as a full bar and an expanded menu where more of Máşą’s recipes can shine. It also coincides with a brand refresh for Ă”ng BĂ , which includes a new logo showing Bố and Máşą later in life, representing the happy ending of their journey.
