Mount Pleasant-based coffee roaster Honest to Pete is expanding its footprint in Vancouver with the opening of its first downtown location in a former JJ Bean space.

You may remember the JJ Bean CBC Plaza location, dubbed “The Shack,” which closed in November 2024. At the time of the closure, JJ Bean cited the pandemic and the following change in downtown culture with remote work as the reason for the closure.

Honest to Pete took to Instagram to share the news that it will be opening in the former JJ Bean spot.

“Cleaning, painting and getting ready for our downtown location!” shared the cafe in the post.

Many took to the comments to share how excited they were about the new location.

“Tell us you are open! We will come right now. We’re already in the car, just sitting here waiting for this,” said one person.

“Can’t wait to walk down and grab a perfect iced latte downtown this summer,” added another.

“Woohoo!!! Can’t wait to have Pete’s downtown!!” shared a third.

Honest to Pete currently has a location in Mount Pleasant at 2109 Alberta St., where it serves an assortment of coffee and espresso-based drinks, as well as tea and baked goods like chocolate chip cookies and cinnamon rolls.

An exact opening date for this new location has yet to be shared. Be sure to check back here for more updates soon.
