Canadian fast-food chain to close its only Vancouver location

After less than two years in the city, vegan fast-food chain Odd Burger has shared that it will be shuttering its only Vancouver location.

“It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we announce that Odd Burger Vancouver will be closing its doors,” wrote the restaurant on Facebook.

As for the reason for the closure, the owners of the location shared, “The final blow came when head office made the decision to discontinue the in-house products that were such an important part of what we believed in and what we signed on for. It changed the direction of the business in a way that no longer aligned with the vision we had when we opened our doors.”

In December 2025, the company shared that it would be transitioning away from operating its own manufacturing facility and would switch to sourcing from an outside supplier.

“Our transition to external suppliers marks a major step forward in shaping the future of Odd Burger,” said James McInnes, CEO and co-founder of Odd Burger, in a press release.

“By partnering with leading food technology companies, we are transforming Odd Burger restaurants into a true hub for innovation — creating a platform where collaboration can thrive, and breakthrough products can reach customers much faster. This approach empowers us to expand our menu, push the boundaries of plant-based cuisine, and unlock a new level of consistency and scalability across our system. We’re building not just a restaurant brand, but an innovation ecosystem designed for the next decade of growth, creativity, and global impact.”

Odd Burger Vancouver’s final day of operation will be July 12, but it is encouraging folks to stop by for one more visit before it closes.

“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of our journey. We’ll never forget the community that supported us through it all,” concluded the restaurant.

Many took to the comments of the closure announcement to share how much they would miss the location.

“This is so sad. The food is excellent and the best alternative to meat-based fast food ever. Hoping against hope that the company will survive and thrive if the small business climate turns around,” said one person.

“Ohhhhh I’m so so so sad. You guys were amazing. This is such a blow to the Vancouver vegan/vegetarian scene and just whole food,” added another. “Local sustainable ethical restaurants are something to be cherished.”

“Oh bummer, I’ve always wondered how things like a change in direction affect franchise owners, thanks for sharing, and I’m wishing you well on your next adventure,” shared a third.
