Burdy, which operated out of a solar-powered yellow bus on the patio at Container Brewing, was best known for its selection of drool-worthy sandwiches, including its much-loved Chicken Parm Sandwich.

The truck’s final day of operation was July 26, but the team promises that something exciting is on the horizon.

After nine years of service, Chi closed its doors on Aug. 14.

“Chi began as a small dream in Kitsilano, a place to share the food of my childhood and the flavours of my heritage. Over time, that dream evolved, just as I did,” said owner and chef Chi Le on Instagram.

Those looking to enjoy some of their favourite plant-based meals from the restaurant after that are still in luck. The restaurant recently released a cookbook with 75 recipes, which is available online.

Victoria Chinese Restaurant

Located inside the Royal Centre Shopping Mall, Victoria Chinese Restaurant first opened its doors in 1991 and was best known for its authentic Hong Kong-style dim sum and seafood dishes. Think steamed BBQ pork buns, pork and shrimp dumplings, and noodle and rice dishes.

While the restaurant did not make a formal announcement online, it shared the news of its closure with a sign in its window.

“We have been in business for over 33 years and would like to thank our loyal customers, friends and family for their support over the years,” posted the restaurant. “We regret to announce the closing of Victoria Chinese Restaurant.”

The Juice Truck, which started as a simple watermelon coloured truck, has since evolved to own multiple brick-and-mortar stores, alongside selling juice in hundreds of retail spaces. However, things are changing for the juice purveyor as it recently announced that it has closed its Main Street location.

While we’re sad that The Juice Truck left its Main Street location, the juice shop assured customers that business is still good.

“Our business is thriving and busier than ever! Our wholesale program is booming, and we’re working hard to become Western Canada’s leading wholesaler of bottled cold-pressed juice. Who knows… you might even see new store concepts or fresh looks from us soon.”

Plus, a new smoothie spot is already set to open in its place.

Kibune Sushi

Located in Kitsilano, Kibune branded itself as one of the oldest authentic Japanese restaurants in Vancouver, having opened its original location on July 1, 1982. Its menu featured your classic sushi offerings, as well as the option to enjoy an omakase dinner.

An official closure announcement from the restaurant has yet to be made, but according to the City of Vancouver Open Data Portal, it’s currently listed as “Gone Out of Business.”

Additionally, a new restaurant is already slated to open in the location called Syu.

The Halal Guys Vancouver

We only had it for a short time, but unfortunately, the food cart turned fast-food chain The Halal Guys has quietly closed its only Vancouver outpost.

Signs in the window show that the restaurant is now “Permanently Closed.”

This famous chain is known for its authentic American Halal food with menu items like platters and sandwiches stuffed with chicken, gyro, and falafel and served with its signature white sauce.

Gusto Olympic Village

Gusto, which opened in 2019, was best known for its range of Italian eats and its giant spinning wheel of desserts. Offerings included its selection of traditional Roman-style pizza called scrocchiarella alongside a variety of antipasti and caffeinated beverages, too.

The restaurant’s final day of service was Aug. 17.

A new spot from the team behind the much-loved Casereccio will be opening in its place soon

Address: 1610 Salt St., Vancouver

Pearl Castle — CF Richmond Centre

Since it opened back in 2009, the Pearl Castle location at CF Richmond Centre has been serving an array of Taiwanese favourites and bubble tea. However, that time has now come to an end as the restaurant shared that it has permanently closed the doors to this spot.

“Thank you all for the continued support! Our Richmond Centre Mall location is now closed for business due to lease expiration,” shared the restaurant on Instagram.

Little Miss Coffee Company

Little Miss Coffee Company, a coffee trailer that serviced Metro Vancouver, announced that it ceased operations on Aug. 17.

“After a lot of reflection, I’ve made the difficult decision to close the doors of Little Miss Coffee Company,” shared the coffee trailer.

Michelle Lougheed, owner of Little Miss Coffee Company, first started the mobile coffee trailer in 2022. It served a variety of coffee, loose-leaf teas, and baked goods. In 2024, Little Miss Coffee Company briefly operated inside Capital City Arcade in New Westminster.

Remi Patisserie opened its doors on Oct. 8, 2020, but had been operating as a pop-up before then. The spot is best known for its hand-crafted desserts inspired by Remi Ho, owner of Remi Patisserie Chinese heritage and birthplace, French Guiana.

An exact closing date has yet to be shared, but it appears that Oct. 12 will be its last day.

“So… Today our buyer just dropped off the deposit. We are inching away from completing the sale of our bakery. 90 per cent chance this Oct. 12th will be our last day of service,” said Ho.

In the announcement, Ho added that he will be using the second half of October to teach and pass down his knowledge to some passionate bakers.
