Oct 25 2025, 2:30 pm

With the autumn chill in the air, there are few things better than cozying up at a local cafe and enjoying a comforting sweet treat. Whether that’s a pumpkin spice latte, a matcha, or even a black coffee (and maybe a croissant to go with it), there are plenty of cozy cafes to check out in the city.

But with so many, and so little time to enjoy fall, we wanted to know where the best ones were. That’s why we took to Instagram to ask our followers for their recommendations, and they sure did deliver.

Keep on reading to see which cafes our readers think are the coziest in Vancouver.

When Slo Coffee opened its first location in the Fraserhood neighbourhood, it was always about more than just serving good coffee.

“In a world that often seems to whirl by in a blur, we believe in the life-affirming necessity of taking and making time. We don’t just make coffee; we make time,” shared Paul Irwin, co-owner of Slo Coffee with Colin Lai, when announcing the Fraserhood spot.

Here, guests are able to sit back, relax, and catch up with friends over one of their signature drinks.

Plus, it’s gearing up to open a new downtown Vancouver outpost on Granville Street.

Over the years, Prado has become quite a popular local mini-chain, and for good reason, too.

The brand is best known for its killer baked goods, small bites (waffles, salads, wraps, toasts), and 49th Parallel Coffee.

Currently, it operates five locations throughout Vancouver, plus one in Surrey and Burnaby. If you’re looking for a suggestion on which location to visit, people who commented on our post seemed particularly fond of its Dunbar outpost.

Toña Bakery and Cafe

Despite having only been open for less than a year, Toña has become a favourite for many Vancouverites, which makes sense when you consider that owner Daniel Muñoz is no stranger to the pastry game, with an impressive list of work experience, including Beta 5, Hawksworth, and Nemesis, to name a few.

On the menu, you’ll find plenty of tasty treats like conchas and cheese pretzels alongside classic beverage offerings like Spanish lattes, matcha lattes, and more.

Those who were active in Vancouver’s club scene in the early to late eighties may remember this as the space of Shine Nightclub, but today, it’s a cafe serving cozy vibes and tasty drinks.

Monaco Cafe is known for its classic cafe offerings like espresso, pastries, and sandwiches, all in the perfect people-watching space along Water Street.

Address: 356 Water St., Vancouver

Greenhorn Cafe

Greenhorn Cafe is definitely the kind of place you want to sit back and relax, whether that be just for a quick coffee or a full-on brunch.

Not only is the space the perfect amount of cozy to enjoy on a crisp autumn afternoon, but the food and drinks are equally delightful.

Address: 994 Nicola St., Vancouver

Chez Nous Bakery and Coffee

Chez Nous is a French-inspired bakery serving up warm pastries and coffee in a cozy space.

On its menu, customers will find typical cafe offerings like lattes and teas alongside sweet and savoury baked goods. Think pain au chocolat, brioche feuilletée, and babka alongside an array of cookie flavours and slices of cake. Plus, Chez Nous is selling French croque-monsieur.

If that wasn’t enough to convince you, the cafe also has a standout selection of rotating specialty drinks. As part of its current fall offerings, you can find drinks like a Carrot Cake latte and a Biscoff Pumpkin Spice latte.

What first started out as a coffee kiosk has since expanded to operate multiple locations across Metro Vancouver.

Each Delany’s location aims to be a community hub, and each has its own personality through decor and local art.

We’re particularly fond of its original location at 1105 Denman St.

Located at 3363 Dunbar St., Perchance is best known for its cute decor and ceremonial-grade matcha drinks.

While we’d definitely recommend going with one of their tea-based drinks, Perchance also serves some standout coffee offerings, too.

Dog lovers, this just might be the ideal cafe for you, because Jack’s Spot is inspired by owner Stephanie Wong’s dog.

“The inspiration started from my dog Jack, who is a Jack Russel Terrier, as he enjoys my sourdough bread (and sits there to accompany me in making it),” Wong told Dished.

On the menu, you’ll find coffee from local roasters, a range of French-inspired pastries, sweets, and, of course, sourdough loaves.

Mah Milk Bar

Part grocery store and part cafe, Mah Milk Bar is the perfect neighbourhood gem.

Now you might be wondering, what is a “milk bar”? And no, it doesn’t mean they just serve milk.

The concept comes from Australia, where a milk bar is synonymous with a corner store, selling all sorts of everyday essentials you might need, like grocery items and tasty lunches and treats like sandwiches and baked goods.

Address: 1502 Victoria Dr., Vancouver

Federal Store

Similar to Mah Milk Bar, this neighbourhood cafe and grocery store offers an array of baking supplies, drinks, dry goods, fridge goods, frozen goods, kitchen and bath stuff, produce, and snacks too, in addition to house-made drinks and snacks.

The last time we visited, we were particularly fond of the Breakfast Biscuit, which comes with avocado, feta, and two soft-boiled eggs served on focaccia.

Address: 2601 Quebec St., Vancouver

Sud Cafe

Sud Cafe, located in the former space of Cardero Grocery, aims to transport guests to the South of France in both its ambience and its food.

We previously spoke to co-owner Luc Duval (who is also behind Petrichor Social) about the new cafe.

For starters, he said that coffee shops are different in the South of France in comparison to the ones here, adding that they always include a good atmosphere and that staff are “friendly in a way that they talk to you like you’ve been going forever, even if it’s your first time.” This is the kind of atmosphere he aims to provide at Sud.

This warmth extends to the decor, which incorporates warm colours like dark yellows and greens into the 16-seat cafe.

Address: 1082 Cardero St., Vancouver

To Live For Bakery

To Live For Bakery is a vegan bakery located at 1508 Nanaimo Street, Vancouver. It is owned by Erin Ireland, a celebrated Vancouver-based vegan food blogger and business owner. The bakery serves up ever-changing pastries like cookies, croissants, scones, and more.

You’ll find all sorts of unique pastry creations here. For example, during the 2025 Metro Vancouver Croissant Crawl, it will feature a Jalapeño Popper croissant.
