Vancouver's new cafe inspired by the South of France has officially opened

Just because we’re approaching the cooler months, when we tend to hunker down and indulge in our favourite comfort foods, doesn’t mean that we can’t have a little escape once in a while.
Well, Vancouver’s new cafe is offering just that.
Sud Cafe, which opened at 1082 Cardero St. in the former space of Cardero Grocery, aims to transport guests to the South of France in both its ambience and its food.
We previously spoke to co-owner Luc Duval (who is also behind Petrichor Social) about the new cafe.
For starters, he said that coffee shops are different in the South of France in comparison to the ones here, adding that they always include a good atmosphere and that staff are “friendly in a way that they talk to you like you’ve been going forever, even if it’s your first time.” This is the kind of atmosphere he aims to provide at Sud.
This warmth extends to the decor, which incorporates warm colours like dark yellows and greens into the 16-seat cafe.

Regarding the menu, you can expect to find your typical coffee and tea offerings, along with some specialty beverages. Think espresso tonics, peach blossom lemonade, and a French mocha, to name a few.
Plus, Sud is serving a variety of baked goods, including croissants, sablƩs, and fougasse, which is a type of bread from the Provence region, available in multiple flavours like elderflower and honey, pumpkin spice, and pistachio.
