Folietta

Folietta is the latest concept from the Wentworth Hospitality Group, which is behind fan-favourite restaurants Homer St. Café and Bar, Tableau Bar Bistro, and Maxine’s Café and Bar.

Inspired by the Italian word foglietta (meaning foliage), Folietta’s name pays homage to the area’s leafy character and vibrant community roots. Meant to be a neighbourhood gathering place, this 130-seat space designed by Ste Marie will combine family-style dining with late-night cocktails and weekend brunch.

You won’t find any Italian clichés like pizza on the menu. Instead, customers can expect menu items such as a 32-ounce Bistecca Fiorentina, plenty of handmade pasta, and other standout dishes like a bone-in veal chop Parmigiana.

Address: 1480 Nanaimo St., Vancouver

Sweet Talk Bar

Introducing Sweet Talk Bar, the latest spot for late-night sips and share plates.

During the day, the spot operates as the much-loved Sweet Talk Donuts, where you can find a selection of expertly crafted donuts, coffee, and breakfast sandwiches. But once it hits 6 p.m., the donut cases are cleared, and the daytime cafe transforms into the new bar concept.

Address: 87 Moody St., Port Moody

Chez Céline

Located at 4298 Fraser St., Vancouver, Chez Celine has opened in the former space of Say Mercy!, which was a Michelin-recognized spot that closed on November 2, 2024.

“Expect the edgy charm of Montréal, the effortless elegance of Paris, and the communal warmth of Québec’s casse-croûtes come alive inside a beaming, beautiful room on the corner of Fraser and 27th,” said Chez Céline on Instagram.

For those not in the know, Cowdog is heralded for its standout coffee and tea offerings, serving unique matcha and hojicha options. This is the brand’s second location in Vancouver.

It also operates under a no-tip, living wage model and is one of the growing number of cafes in Vancouver that don’t charge for non-dairy options.

Address: 1927 W 4th Ave., Vancouver

A-OK Cafe

Aritzia opened its first A-OK Cafe in 2018 and has since opened over ten locations throughout North America. This latest location will be in the newly expanded Guildford Town Centre Boutique located in Surrey, which is now the brand’s largest Canadian boutique to date.

So what’s on the menu? A-OK is best known for its espresso drinks, as well as micro-ground tea, hot and iced beverages, and pastries. Think iced coffees, matcha lattes, pain au chocolate, and more.

Located on the lower level of the newly opened June, Lala is a cozy 40-seat vinyl listening bar named after co-proprietor Keenan Hood’s daughter (Lala is her nickname).

While it may be hard to book a reservation at June’s, Lala offers a walk-in-only concept, meaning no planning months ahead to get a seat here.

Address: Lower level of June — 3305 Cambie St., Vancouver

Ciclo Espresso and Cocteles The Post

Located right outside of the Michelin-recommended Acquafarina is Ciclo Espresso. Here, you’ll find your standard selection of expertly crafted espresso drinks, alongside a more unique item called Panino Porta.

The sandwich, which is more formally known as a Panino Portafoglio, translates into “wallet sandwich” in English, a reference to how it is folded.

Address: 695 Homer St., Vancouver

404 Coffee Lab

The new cafe is opening in the former space of Ramen One, which was a ramen restaurant that offered a solo dining model for customers.

At 404 Coffee Lab, a very similar solo dining concept to Ramen One will be available for those who might want to get some work done without distraction or prefer not to interact with others.

The space is set up with an enclosed room in the middle, where the kitchen is located, and seating is arranged around it. At each seat is a QR code, allowing patrons to order from their phones. Food is then delivered through a small window blocked off by a curtain, resulting in minimal interaction with staff.

A portion of the restaurant is dedicated to this solo dining experience, featuring dividers between each seat for maximum privacy. However, those looking for a more communal space are in luck, too, as the other portion of the restaurant features no dividers, allowing you to sit with your friends.

Address: 433 W. Broadway, Vancouver

Taco Nori Bentall Centre

Located at 595 Burrard St., Taco Nori’s first brick-and-mortar spot can be found by going down the first flight of stairs to the left of Burrard Station (or under the BMO).

The brand got its start all the way back in 2018 as a stall at the Richmond Night Market under the name Nori Express until it expanded to a ghost kitchen concept in 2021. Since then, it has transitioned to a food truck concept that visits food festivals across Metro Vancouver.

For those unfamiliar, Taco Nori serves deep-fried seaweed taco shells filled with toppings you’d typically find in sushi rolls. Think spicy salmon, chicken karaage, and California and wakame nori tacos.

Address: Unit 502, 595 Burrard St., Vancouver

Hot Spot Buffet

Hot Spot Buffet offers the all-too-familiar all-you-can-eat hot pot model, where you fill your own bowl with whatever ingredients you want. However, it differs from other all-you-can-eat hot pot restaurants in that you pay one flat fee per bowl instead of paying per the weight of each bowl.

It also offers a selection of meats and seafood you can grill at your table, also available for a flat fee.

Address: 3340 Kingsway #240, Vancouver

Space Chicken

Space Chicken is a new restaurant promising “bold, crispy, and out-of-this-world flavour.”

But what exactly is on the menu? While the restaurant is sourcing its chicken from Earth (for the time being at least), its menu is filled with space-themed sandwiches.

Take the Saturn Burger, for instance, which features two crispy chicken thighs, lettuce, house-made sauce, and an onion ring.

It also serves standard fried and grilled chicken, wings, platters, and even beef and veggie burgers.
