8 of the hottest new restaurants to try in and around Vancouver

One thing will always remain true for Vancouver, and it’s that there will always be somewhere new and exciting to eat.
Whether you’re looking for some delicious tacos or maybe a spot serving up some stellar caviar creations, there’s always something tasty to enjoy.
But with all the new spots popping up in and around the city, it can be difficult to keep track of everything. That’s why we compiled a list of some of the hottest restaurant openings that you can visit today.
From a beloved Tofino spot’s first Vancouver location to one heck of a good bowl of clam chowder, these are some of the hottest restaurants that have recently opened.
Osetra Coastal Cuisine

Marco Ovies/Dished
Officially opened on Nov. 28, Osetra is a new seafood restaurant in the heart of downtown Vancouver, serving a standout seafood-forward menu featuring items like waffles with caviar, among many others.
The new restaurant is the latest concept from The Key Collection team, opening in the former home of Bar Haifa. This is just steps from Rogers Arena, BC Place, and the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.
Address:Â 410 West Georgia St., Vancouver
Jeju Vancouver

If you’re in Tofino and looking for a standout dining experience, many will recommend you check out Jeju: the Korean restaurant, which opened back in 2021. Now, Vancouverites won’t have to make the trek to Tofino as the team has just opened its first Vancouver location, bringing with it its refined dishes and deeply rooted family ties.
“Vancouver has been home for most of my life since immigrating from Korea,” Chef Dylan told us during a sneak peek of the new restaurant.
On the menu, you’ll find plenty to enjoy, including Spot Prawn served with dill oil, orange vinaigrette, and garlic aioli, a seasonal fish dish featuring flavours of doenjang jjigae, and Jeju’s signature 35-day aged Galbi served with ssam and banchan.
Address:Â 540 East Broadway, Vancouver
Pinche Taco Shop

Marco Ovies/Dished
Vancouver’s latest taco shop isn’t looking to reinvent the wheel but rather offer an authentic look (and taste) into Mexican cuisine.
But that’s no surprise considering that Pinche Taco Shop is run by the same team behind La Taqueria, the taco brand that’s been operating in Vancouver since 2009.
Here, the team took inspiration from some of its favourite taquerias from Mexico. Here you’ll find a fast-paced, counter-service style restaurant where you can stop in for a quick bite or linger for a more relaxed meal with a couple of drinks.

Dix

While many are still mourning the loss of MeeT in Gastown, which closed after a decade of service in downtown Vancouver, a new restaurant serving plant-based eats has already moved into the same space. What’s even more exciting is that its whole menu is just $10.
Called Dix, the new spot aims to be a late-night lounge offering up tasty bites and drinks alongside plenty of good music and vibes.
Plus, all of its cocktails are also just $10. The only exception to this rule is its shots program, which sells two shots for $10.
Address:Â 12 Water St., Vancouver
Dante Italian Sandwich — Commercial Drive

The Italiana (Marco Ovies/Dished)
You may already be familiar with Dante and its sandwich game. The original Robson Street location serves up authentic Italian sandwiches on house-made schiacciata bread and often sells out before the end of the day.
The sandwich shop, brought to us by Dom and Frank Morra (who also own Via Tevere Pizzeria, Il Saltimbocca, and Straight Outta Brooklyn Pizza), has become an overnight sensation, and now the chain has opened its second location on Commercial Drive.
Address:Â 1110 Commercial Dr., Vancouver
Jack’s Chowder — Bentall Centre

Marco Ovies/Dished
There are few better combinations than clam chowder and bread bowls, and now one of Vancouver’s top clam chowder restaurants — Jack’s Chowder — has brought its soup in a bread bowl to another part of the city: Bentall Centre.
“Honestly, it is beyond surreal that our little dream is expanding. This location fell into our laps and we couldn’t say no,” shared the restaurant.
Address: Inside Bentall Centre — 1055 Dunsmuir St., Vancouver
Sal y Limon — Hastings-Sunrise

After announcing the location two years ago, the beloved Mexican eatery Sal y Limon has opened the doors to its new Vancouver restaurant.
“We know it took forever… but HERE WE ARE: East Hastings is OPEN!” wrote the restaurant.
Sal y Limon is best known for its Mexican classics like tacos, burritos, tortas, and more. We’re particularly fond of the Torta Ahogados, which is a sandwich covered in medium or extra-spicy salsa.

White Rock Burger Co.

The new concept, called White Rock Burger Co., specializes in the much-loved handheld, alongside mac and cheese, dirty fries, and house-made dips, and is operating out of the same space as brunch destination Wooden Spoon.
“Tired of mid burgers? We get it,” wrote the restaurant. “You deserve better — juicy patties, melted cheese, and a hit of that perfect crunch.”
However, it’s important to note that this will be a delivery/takeout only concept, with the restaurant operating out of the takeout window around the back.
