Popular Vancouver taco shop to close original location after 16 years

Unfortunately, many long-standing restaurants in Vancouver are closing their doors, and now another spot has announced it will close its original location after 16 years.
After breaking the sad news in January 2024, La Taqueria said that the final day for its original Pinche Taco Shop location at 322 West Hastings St. is Sunday, May 18, 2025.
La Taqueria also added that the reason for the closure is due to the building redevelopment plan announced in early 2024.
First opening at 322 W Hastings St. in 2009, La Taqueria has now grown to offer its signature Mexican eats and drinks at several brick-and-mortar locations, including spots in Brentwood, Mount Pleasant, and North Vancouver.
To honour the legacy of this location, the taco shop is hosting a two-day farewell fiesta on May 17 and 18. During those two days, every purchase will come with a complimentary cerveza.
Then, during its very last service, the location plans to go out in style by offering everything on the menu for just $5 from 7 p.m. onwards, while supplies last.

But it’s not all doom and gloom for the taco shop, as it has plans to open a brand new location later this summer in the Waterfront Hub building. Here, La Taqueria said it will return to its roots by creating a Mexican-style taqueria with the primary focus being on unique tacos you’d find on the streets of Mexico City.
More details on the new location are expected to come soon, so be sure to check back here for more information.
