Mr. Tonkatsu – Surrey

Mr. Tonkatsu has opened at 10320 152 St A in Surrey, right across from right across Guildford Mall. Known for its authentic deep-fried pork cutlet served with shredded, unlimited cabbage salad, sweet sauce, and housemade panko, Mr. Tonkatsu currently operates a handful of locations in Ontario.

Cactus Club Station Square
The new location is saddled up right next to Earls’ latest spot, which opened in April of this year. Opening on July 16, Cactus Club Station Square is adjacent to Burnaby’s Metrotown Shopping Centre, which means it’s sure to be a very busy location for the restaurant group.

It’s been well over a year since news of Stanley Park Brewing Co. taking possession of the former Fish House location in Vancouver’s Stanley Park broke. Now, the time has almost come for Vancouverites to experience the new space, concept, and vibes of the 10,600 sq. ft. Stanley Park Brewing Restaurant and Brewpub, as the opening day is set for the end of the month.

Egg & Co is taking over the former space of the now-shuttered Latin-inspired spot Escobar at 4245 Fraser Street. The anticipated opening date for this new destination for mid-morning eats in around July 20.

Matchstick – Davie Street
Matchstick Coffee already operates four locations, and now, a fifth is on the way. The local coffee roaster and family of cafes will be opening a spot at 1305 Davie Street (northwest corner of Davie and Jervis Street), in the heart of downtown Vancouver’s West End.

The Praguery
The Praguery, one of Vancouver’s favourite food trucks, is officially opening a brick and mortar location. The brand is opening a storefront in Gastown at 221 Abbott Street (the former location of Crab Park Chowdery).

Jenjudan – Robson
In addition to this outpost, a second Robson Street location is in the works (290 Robson Street) along with a location in the Collingwood area at 3490 Kingsway. In Richmond, a Jenjudan is slated to open at 5599 Cooney Road Unit 125.

Hon’s Wonton House – E Broadway

Hon’s Wonton House is gearing up to open its second Vancouver location in Mount Pleasant at 1661 E Broadway. The eatery currently operates a location at 25 E 2nd Avenue in Olympic Village and is known for its classic Cantonese comfort eats with a menu of everything from handmade wontons to pan-fried potstickers.

Tiger Sugar operates outposts all over Asia, including Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the Philippines, and plans on opening its first North American location in Toronto any day now.

The company has exclusively revealed the address of the downtown Vancouver location to Daily Hive. The brand has plans to maintain Japanese authenticity with its BC locations, aiming to stay true to the famous Japanese recipe by using Japanese ingredients.

A new cocktail and wine bar called Bartholomew’s Plan is slated to open at 1026 Mainland Street this spring. Patrons can expect house-made charcuterie and tapas dishes at this soon-to-be-open hangout.

Catoro Cafe
The Totoro-themed concept will be opening at 666 East Broadway, the former location of Mensch Jewish Delicatessen. The space will consist of a cafe and lounge side, and a cat cuddling side, not unlike other cat-centric cafes you may have heard of. It’s set to open July 29.

Privé
There’s going to be way more than just epic karaoke facilities at Privé, the VIP spot was inspired by lively nightlife venues in Asia and LA, and the owners aim to integrate a bar arcade concept along with a bar and lounge with space for shenanigans like beer pong too.
