Picklefest Vancouver

What: Taking over City Centre Artist Lodge at 2111 Main St. and brought to us by Henderson Brewing Co. for one day only, Picklefest — Canada’s biggest pickle festival — is happening this September, spreading the scent of pickle juice far and wide across the city.
Festivities include a bustling marketplace made up of dozens of vendors serving pickles by the jar, on a stick, and other pickle-inspired eats and beverages.
That’ll be paired with plenty of live entertainment, pickle-themed paraphernalia, and the star of the show, the festival’s annual home pickling contest, where an elite group of amateur picklers will walk away with cash prizes and infinite glory for their fermented food creations.

Flats Fest
What: Flats Fest, presented by Low Tide Properties, is the perfect family-friendly event for your summer weekend. Attendees will enjoy live music from Surf Hat and Yukon Blonde, an artisan market, a kids’ zone with a bouncy castle, a site-wide beverage garden, and food trucks.
There will also be an Innovation Zone to explore, a climbing wall to challenge yourself, and complimentary treats while supplies last.

Friends of the Vancouver Public Library Fall Book Sale
What: Bookworms will be in page-turning paradise with the return of the huge Vancouver Public Library’s book sale this month.
Friends of the Vancouver Public Library is hosting its popular Fall Used Book Sale from Thursday, Sept. 4 to Sunday, Sept. 7 at the VPL’s main branch at 350 West Georgia St.
Head to the Alice McKay Room to discover over 50,000 books at bargain prices. In fact, titles start at just a toonie.

What: The popular Vancouver Fringe Festival is celebrating its 41st anniversary in 2025, with 87 acts ranging from comedy, storytelling, solo performances, and more. Get ready to discover local stars and international artists in this lineup of shows you won’t want to miss.
The festival will feature nightly entertainment in the popular Fringe Bar, and free creative activities for children ages four to 12 and their grown-ups with the new Kids Fringe.

Everything Electric Vancouver

Car Free Days Vancouver
What: Vancouver’s ever-popular Car Free Day is returning this summer for two epic celebrations across the city.
The massive street festivals are presented by Car Free Vancouver Society as well as Translink, local municipalities, and BIAs to promote the growth of car-free culture and spaces.
Each year, thousands of attendees, food vendors and artisan booths, kids’ activities, and more. There will also be plenty of great live music to check out.

Vancouver Rise vs Calgary Wild

What: It’s the inaugural season of Vancouver Rise FC, and history is being made at Swangard Stadium. Come cheer on the hometown professional women’s soccer team and feel the energy rise with every goal, save, and tackle.

Kimchi and K-Food Festival
What: The Kimchi and K-Food Festival is coming to Metro Vancouver, and it’s calling itself the biggest kimchi celebration in Canada. Plus, admission is free.
Taking place from Sept. 5 to 6, the festival will feature plenty of different regional varieties of the spicy dish, like gat kimchi and bossam kimchi, in addition to other Korean street food favourites like tteokbokki and hotteok. You’ll even be able to make your own kimchi and attend the kimchi-making workshop.

The Magic of Sunflowers and The Magic of Fall
What: Taves Farms invites guests to the Magic of Sunflowers to explore the season’s stunning blooms and take pictures in the various photo spots until Sunday, Sept. 7.
Then head back from Saturday, Sept. 13, until Friday, Oct. 31, for the Magic of Fall, with a giant pumpkin patch, three corn mazes and over 30 acres of fall activities.

Summer Movie Nights at Lot 19
What: Downtown Van is hosting two more free outdoor movie nights on Thursday, Sept. 4 and Thursday, Sept. 11 at Lot 19. Head down early to enjoy free activations starting at 5 p.m., with the films starting at sundown.
On Sept. 4 is a screening of Lady Bird and on Sept. 11 is a showing of In the Mood for Love.

Neil Young

What: Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Neil Young will perform at Burnaby’s Deer Lake Park on Saturday, Sept. 6 and Monday, Sept. 8.
Young and his band, the Chrome Hearts, are hitting the road on the Love Earth world tour. The three-time Grammy winner and seven-time Juno recipient has plenty of iconic hits, including “Heart Of Gold,” “Old Man,” and “Rockin’ in the Free World.” Young is also an activist and philanthropist, co-founding the benefit concert Farm Aid in 1985.

In-N-Out at the Langley Good Times Cruise-In 2025
What: The famous American chain, known for its 3×3 burgers and Animal Style Fries, will once again attend the Langley Good Times Cruise-In, a large-scale charity event for retro car enthusiasts.
Those looking to get their hands on some In-N-Out will need to purchase a ticket, and the line opens at 8 a.m. You’ll be able to find the line by the In-N-Out truck, which is located next to the Royal Canadian Legion on the North side of Fraser Highway at 266th Street.
Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis until they run out, and no pre-purchases are available. There is also a limit of two tickets per person.

Polish Festival

North Shore Polish Association Belweder presents the lively festivities on Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Shipyards in Lower Lonsdale.

Vokra’s Walk For The Kitties 2025
What: Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association, better known as VOKRA, is hosting a 5 km fun walk. The popular annual fundraiser raises funds to support the no-kill, registered non-profit cat rescue organization in rescuing, healing and finding new loving homes for over 1,200 cats and kittens every year.

Burnaby Central Railway
What: Burnaby Central Railway is welcoming passengers to climb aboard its 3-km track near Confederation Park every weekend until this fall. Your ride will take you across tunnels, bridges and viaducts. And while you’re there, stop by the ever-growing Garden Railway.
British Columbia Society of Model Engineers (BCSME) built and operates the mini railway, with three different types of locomotives pulling the rideable trains.
When: Weekends and stat holidays through Thanksgiving weekend

Where: 120 Willingdon Ave. N., Burnaby
Cost: $4.50 for a single ride for all passengers three years old and up. $40 for a 10-ride pass
Hoagie Half
What: The Hoagie Half is a sandwich-fuelled relay-style run that will see teams of four race to four of Vancouver’s best sandwich spots. This includes Meat and Bread, Say Hey Café, Juke Fried Chicken, and Vennie’s Sub Shop.
Participants will collect and eat a sandwich at each leg of the relay. The final stretch then finishes at Container Brewery, with a big party to celebrate the event, including DJs, a prize draw from sponsors like Adidas, Do Well, and Fine Parts Salon — and, of course, more sandwiches.
