A sandwich-fuelled half-marathon relay is coming to Vancouver — yes, really

First, there was the Costco marathon that took participants on a run of over 42 km to five different Costco locations. Now, prepare for a new tasty race coming to Vancouver in September.
The Hoagie Half is a sandwich-fuelled relay-style run that will see teams of four race to four of Vancouver’s best sandwich spots. This includes Meat and Bread, Say Hey Café, Juke Fried Chicken, and Vennie’s Sub Shop.
Participants will collect and eat a sandwich at each leg of the relay. The final stretch then finishes at Container Brewery, with a big party to celebrate the event, including DJs, a prize draw from sponsors like Adidas, Do Well, and Fine Parts Salon — and, or course, more sandwiches.

Additionally, each participant will receive a limited edition Hoagie Half t-shirt, a hoagie, and a beer from Container Brewing.
“Think of it as the ultimate run-club-meets-food-festival,” said co-organizer Oll Farrell. It’s sweaty, it’s chaotic, it’s delicious — and we want it to feel like a street party.”
The event takes place on Saturday, Sept. 6, with race time from 2 to 5 p.m., with runners starting in staggered heats. Then, the free outdoor party at Container Brewing goes on from 5 to 10 p.m.
A limited number of team tickets for this event will be released, and with over 150 runners and 100+ spectators expected, you’ll want to get them soon.
Early Bird tickets start at $221 and are on sale now. General Admission tickets are $250 are are available starting Aug. 5, with the final release of tickets being Aug. 25.
