A new month means a new batch of amazing theatre and arts to discover in Vancouver!

The Great Outdoors Comedy Festival

What: The Great Outdoors Comedy Festival takes place in Stanley Park from Friday, Sept. 12 to Sunday, Sept. 14. With huge headliners like John Mulaney, Bert Kreischer, Trailer Park Boys, and Tony Hinchcliffe coming to Vancouver, plus a mouthwatering lineup of food vendors, it just may be one of the best days out you’ll have this year.

stɑl̓əw̓ Pow Wow

What: All are welcome to attend the fourth annual stɑl’əw̓ Pow Wow at Langley Events Centre, happening from Friday, Sept.12 to Sunday, Sept. 14. The three-day immersive Indigenous event celebrates pow wow culture and tradition with drumming, singing, dancing, and regalia.

In addition, you can check out Indigenous artists and artisans in the Vendors Market, located inside the gymnasium at Gate 1, and treat yoursef to Indigenous Food Vendors, located just outside the Langley Events Centre.

Broadway Across Canada – The Lion King

Vancouver Fringe Festival

What: The popular Vancouver Fringe Festival is celebrating its 41st anniversary in 2025, with 87 acts ranging from comedy, storytelling, solo performances, and more. Get ready to discover local stars and international artists in this lineup of shows you won’t want to miss.

The festival will feature nightly entertainment in the popular Fringe Bar, and free creative activities for children ages 4 to 12 and their grown-ups with the new Kids Fringe.

Vancouver International Flamenco Festival

What: Celebrate all things flamenco at this annual festival of dance presented by Flamenco Rosario. There will be numerous live performances to enjoy by local, national, and international flamenco artists throughout the festival, including free outdoor events on Granville Island on Sept. 20 and 21 on the Picnic Pavilion stage.

Those interested in learning the art of flamenco can also sign up for classes throughout the festival.

I Know What You Did Last Weekend at The Improv Centre

What: I Know What You Did Last Weekend is a blend of ’90s teen slasher films with the spontaneity of live improv comedy. The show begins with a murder based on suggestions from the audience and then dives into a world of secrets, betraysl and laughs.

When: Every Friday and Saturday from Sept. 19 to Nov. 1, 2025, plus a special opening night performance on Thursday, Sept. 18.

BC Culture Days 2025

What: BC Culture Days is an annual series of free and interactive creative events hosted by artists and cultural organizations across the province. This year’s three-week celebration invites participants to explore and express themselves artistically through workshops, live shows, and more.

Filipino Fest

What: The Museum of Surrey is hosting its annual Filipino Fest on Saturday, Sept. 6, with live performances, food vendors, children’s activities, and more.

According to the museum, it is an opportunity for guests to reconnect with their roots or learn about Filipino culture for the first time.

Vancouver Queer Film Festival

What: Vancouver Queer Film Festival is Western Canada’s largest queer arts event. Since 1988, the festival contextualizes and celebrates queer lives and experiences through online and in-person film screenings.

This year, over 100 films from 25 countries will showcase the struggles, joys, and journeys of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. There will also be performances by local artists, post-screening Q&As, and industry events.

The Canine Library

What: Canine Library is woofing it up at John Hendry Park, and participants can choose from various poetry books from VPL’s collection for their session. There will also be fun with VPL’s Children’s tent and poetry workshops with VPL’s Writer in Residence, Selina Boan, during the popular annual event.

Fort Langley Ukulele Festival

What: The Langley Ukulele Association is hosting the First Annual International Ukulele Festival, and several of Hawaii’s top musical talents will be performing, including Craig Chee, Sarah Maisel, and Bryan Tolentino.

Acclaimed Ukulele performers from the Pacific Northwest will be in the festival lineup, like Neal Chin, Eduardo Garcia, and Luongo family members Peter, Paul and Mark. There will be a mix of free and ticketed events throughout Fort Langley as well as workshops, so don’t miss out on the fun.
