Stop getting in your autumnal feels! Thereās still plenty of time left in Vancouver to celebrate the summer sun even as we approach September. And what better way to spend these last precious few moments of warm weather than at an outdoor music festival?
Taking over Vancouverās creative district of South Flats for another year, Flats Fest is coming back Saturday, Sept. 6, from 12 ā 9 p.m. for a full day of musical and community fun.
For this year’s fest, Low Tide Properties is pulling out all the stops with a killer lineup of musicians across three stages and a host of activities and treats ā all for the price of free!
Incredible music
Rockinā the main stage will see high-energy sets from the likes of Tiffany Rivera, Surf Hat, and Canadian indie rock icons Yukon Blonde.
Looking for a chill experience? Head to the acoustic stage featuring some of B.C.ās finest musicians like Kylie V, Hayley Wallis, and Adam Robert Thomas. There will also be a DJ stage during the afternoon to provide the perfect ambience for a fun-filled day out.
Supporting Vancouver businesses
But it’s not just about the musicians ā Flats Fest is about connecting with the local community through food, celebrations, and festivities.
Scattered throughout the grounds, attendees can head to the various zones to check out local businesses. The Community Zone, in particular, will feature booths and activities from the Food Stash Foundation, 1933 Liquor Co., and Mountain Equipment Company.
There will also be an Artisan Market and a Students’ Market for browsing local treasures like artwork, ceramics, jewellery, home products and more.
Visit the showcase of local South Flats organizations to get a look at some cutting-edge projects at the Innovation Zone. Expect to try new games from Buffalo Buffalo and experience activations from the Centre of Digital Media, Vancouver Community College, and more.
And donāt forget the kids, because the Kidsā Zone will be packed with plenty to keep them busy, including a bouncy castle, climbing wall, craft stations, glitter tattoos, face painting, and balloon animals.
There will also be a litany of interactive shows, including a sing-along with Tinkerbell and a dance battle from BattleZone Canada, along with free treats like cotton candy and Rain or Shine ice cream, while supplies last.
Fuel up with delicious, local food
Speaking of delicious treats, discover the best bites in the city with a diverse array of food trucks from spots like REEL Mac and Cheese, Planted Love, WakWak Burger, Taco Nori, and Dos Amigos. Those with a sweet tooth will also want to head to Garyās Kettle Corn!
Looking for an afternoon pick-me-up? Nemesis Coffee and Kafkaās Coffee will be on site for your caffeine fix.
Thanks to the site-wide license, attendees can enjoy refreshing beverages, including local beers from Strathcona Beer. Low Tide Properties is donating a portion of all alcohol sales to the Food Stash Foundation ā which helps reduce food waste and improve food security.
There will be limited parking for event goers, so be sure to take public transit. For those wanting to bike, there will be a complimentary bike valet available at Carolina Street.
