While there are plenty of restaurant openings on the horizon for Calgary, August also saw a fair few closures.

From long-standing favourites to fan-favourite pop-ups, there were some major losses for the city’s restaurant scene that many will be devastated to say goodbye to.

So if you’re not up to date with the latest restaurant news, here are some of the biggest closures we saw in Calgary over the past few weeks.

Having first opened its doors in 2001, Murrieta’s was known for its extensive menu, ranging from pizza and pasta to fresh seafood, Alberta beef, and more. Its Canmore location is still in operation.
