There are plenty of great eats to be had in Vancouver, and a bunch more have recently opened their doors. So we decided to compile this list of some of the most exciting openings in the city for those looking for a new restaurant to try.

Maria Celeste

Brought to us by hospitality veterans and brothers Justin and Cristian Isidro, Maria Celeste is a tribute to Portugal’s cherished tascas, a.k.a. everyday neighbourhood gathering places, where food, wine, and conversation unfold naturally.
Named after their mother, the 1,300 sq. ft. restaurant will seat 36 and draw on the experience of both brothers, with Justin being the former longtime director of operations at Michelin-starred Kissa Tanto, Meo, and Bao Bei, and founder of Vinicola Portular, and Cristian having previously worked in kitchens like Kissa Tanto, Lisboeta in London, and Cozinha das Flores in Porto.
“Growing up in Portugal, tascas were where everyone ended up on any given day because they were all about welcoming the whole community,” said Justin. “That’s the feeling we want the moment people walk through our doors – there’s always a seat for you at our table. It’s been a long road to get here, and we can’t wait to finally share this room with our friends, family, and guests.”

Entrecôte Restaurant

Sometimes it’s overwhelming to visit a restaurant and be presented with pages and pages of a menu. Thankfully, you won’t be facing that problem at Entrecôte Restaurant. Why? Because it only has one main course on the menu.
The new restaurant has opened at the former home of the short-lived Dix, which took over the space from Meet in Gastown at the end of 2025.
Steak frites are the name of the game at Entrecôte. Available as part of a $44 prix fixe menu, you’ll get a fresh green walnut salad to start your meal, followed by Entrecôte steak fries, served with its “sauce secrète.”

Salt bread has been all the rage in Vancouver, and a new spot for the viral treat has just opened its doors in the city.
Called Salt&, the new bakery is opening in the space previously occupied by Footo Croissant and Dulcey Patisserie.
Here, the team is serving a selection of specialty salt bread, from flavours like mocha to matcha cream, ham and cheese and more. You can also find a variety of coffee and matcha drinks, like an iced mango matcha latte.

Cantina Social Club

A new Mexican cantina-inspired pop-up concept is coming to downtown Vancouver, and it’s brought to you by the team from Chupito.
Called the Cantina Social Club, the pop-up is blending the soul of old-school Mexican drinking houses with the creativity of contemporary Mexican cooking made with ingredients from the Pacific Northwest. The result is what the concept is calling an “ever-evolving dining experience where the menu changes with the seasons, local harvest, and the creative curiosity of the kitchen.”
The pop-up will run every Wednesday through Saturday starting July 22 from 6 p.m. until late out of Pinche Taco Shop at 367 Seymour St., with the space transforming nightly into a lively yet intimate cantina illuminated by candlelight, communal tables, and lush greenery.

Hen Chicken Rice

Introducing Hen, a new eatery specializing in authentic Thai chicken rice, a.k.a Khao Man Gai.
The soft opening menu features four different plates, including The Original (a traditional poached chicken thigh with ginger rice and soybean sauce), The Crispy (crispy boneless chicken with ginger rice and Hen sriracha sauce), The Mix (Poached and Crispy Chicken with ginger rice, soybean sauce, and Hen sriracha sauce), and The Heat (spicy crispy goneless chicken with ginger rice and Hen sriracha sauce). It is also offering Thai Iced Tea and mango sticky rice.
This is actually the second outpost for the brand, with its first opening in Boston back in 2019. Now the team has found a new home for the Thai chicken rice here in Vancouver.

Buttercrumbs

You may recognize the name Buttercrumbs if you’ve visited spots like Butter and Joy in Richmond, or Nami Vietnamese in Vancouver. It’s the brand behind the buttery, melt-in-your-mouth cookies baked fresh in the city, available in an assortment of flavours. Now, you’ll have one more place to get these popular cookies, as the team has opened its latest pop-up in downtown Vancouver.
Located inside Bentall Centre, the new storefront will offer a variety of signature cookies, alongside a selection of drinks.

Veda Kitsilano

Formerly under the name Benne, Veda is a new South Indian restaurant that has opened its doors in Kitsilano.
Here, the team promises to serve up dosas with house sambar and tomato/coconut chutney, alongside a selection of small plates and filter coffee courtesy of our friends over at Alai Coffee Roasters.
Gringo Gastown

After announcing it was closing, Gringo has officially reopened its iconic Blood Alley location in Gastown.
“To our wonderful community: Welcome back to Gringo Gastown,” wrote the team. “Come and say hi to your favorite people, but most importantly to the new family member!!”
Gringo describes itself as a “white-trash cantina meets all-inclusive resort” and is best known for its selection of tacos, burritos, and literal buckets of booze (and no, we’re not exaggerating when we say buckets).

Ông Bà Eatery — Coquitlam

You may recognize the name Ông Bà Eatery from its original outpost on Denman Street, a small, 16-seat restaurant offering a selection of Vietnamese favourites. Recently, owners and husband-and-wife duo Viet and Quynh decided to close the original Vancouver location and move to Coquitlam, expanding the restaurant to an impressive 200 seats.
The restaurant got its start as an homage to Viet’s grandparents, named Bố and Mẹ, meant to offer the same unconditional love that shaped the family’s journey in Canada.
The menu consists of a combination of Ông Bà classics alongside some new dishes. But just like the space, everything on the menu has gotten an upgrade.
