Vancouver restaurant known for $10 menu closes — new French eatery to take its place
The space at 12 Water St., Vancouver, has seen quite a few changes in recent months.
First, it was home to vegan hotspot MeeT in Gastown, which unfortunately closed its doors after a decade late last year (it also closed its Yaletown outpost a few months later). Following that, a new vegan eatery called Dix opened its doors in the space, offering bites for just $10 (hence the name “dix,” which is French for 10).
Fast forward to the beginning of April, and Dix closed its doors, with its final day of service being Sunday, April 1.
“When we opened Dix as a pop-up lounge, we had no clue how people would react… turns out, you showed up with a ton of support. Small plates covering the tables, cocktails flowing, and the music keeping the energy up. We’ve felt the love every single night, and we’re entirely grateful for it… but alas, our time in Gastown is coming to a quick end. The space has been sold, so we’ll be closing our doors and setting our sights on what’s next!” wrote Dix on Instagram.

“We had a short run here with big energy and hopefully there will be more amazing nights in the future. Of course an incredible thank-you to our team who made this place what it was, and to everyone who walked through our doors and made it feel alive!” added Dix.
So what is opening in the space? Well, the new restaurant in question is called Entrecote Restaurant. While details on the new concept are sparse, the real estate agency Restaurant Agents did share some information on its Instagram.
“This new addition to the dining scene will bring a fresh culinary experience to the city, and we can’t wait for you to check it out. Stay tuned for the official opening date and get ready to show your support when they launch,” wrote Restaurant Agents.

As for the future of Dix, it shared that this is not a permanent goodbye and that it is looking to move to a new space. However, a new space has yet to be secured.
