Popular Vancouver to East Coast travel route returns this summer

Are you in Vancouver and considering some travel to the East Coast of Canada? Well, WestJet is soon to make that a little bit easier.

Beginning July 1, WestJet will bring back the Vancouver to Halifax flight, which was also seen last summer.

WestJet is bringing several other changes to its schedule to strengthen its domestic schedule, including adding summer travel capacity.

WestJet is calling it a “major expansion of its domestic network,” which includes the non-stop service to Halifax.

“These routes bring greater choice to our guests across the country and make it easier for Canadians to access our expanding transatlantic network from Halifax and St. John’s,” said John Weatherill, WestJet’s executive vice-president and CCO.

“As demand for summer travel continues to evolve, we are focused on flying people where they want to go, whether it’s reuniting with loved ones in the prairies, exploring new sights in the Maritimes or seamlessly connecting to Europe.”

Beginning July 1, the Vancouver to Halifax route will be flown four times weekly. It was previously served in 2024.

YVR also had something to say about the return of the Halifax route.

“This provides Canadians with increased options to travel between the East and West Coast and take in the diverse tourism experiences across the country,” said Russell Atkinson, director, air service development at YVR.

YVR’s social media account adds, “get ready for a summer of hikes.”
