Pret A Manger has opened at YVR’s international departures food court after security, introducing a brand that is already well known to many travellers from the United Kingdom and other international markets, but remains relatively unfamiliar in B.C.
The British chain specializes in freshly prepared, grab-and-go food and quick counter service. Its menu includes sandwiches, wraps, salads and baked goods, along with organic coffee and a broad selection of vegetarian and vegan choices.
Open 24 hours a day, this YVR restaurant is intended to serve passengers and airport employees throughout the day, from early-morning breakfasts and coffee to quick lunches and late-night snacks.

Mello Donuts

Mello, a viral doughnut shop that makes brioche-style sweet treats, recently announced that it has opened its third Vancouver location.
The company posted on Instagram, stating it “quietly opened the doors” to this new location, which is at 1428 Robson St.
“We’re still in our soft opening stage and getting everything settled, so please bear with us while we find our rhythm in our new home,” Mello wrote.
The new location has dine-in space and seating. Mello also teased that it’ll be introducing new menu items over time, aside from its doughnuts.

Rico Chicken

Chef and owner Ricardo Valverde, also known as the brain behind Vancouver’s award-winning Suyo Modern Peruvian and the seafood-centric sister restaurant Uchu Cevicheria and Raw Bar, is broadening his horizons with the launch of a new delivery-only concept titled Rico Chicken.
The team shared that Rico will bring Valverde’s ingredient-driven approach to the world’s most beloved protein: chicken. Every certified organic chicken is sourced from Windberry Farms in Abbotsford, is marinated for 24 hours in a yogurt and blend of spices, brushed with Rico’s signature anticuchero sauce (a savoury, smoky Peruvian marinade), and then roasted at a high temperature. This results in a juicy chicken with a deliciously charred exterior.
The menu centres around half and whole chickens served alongside a variety of house-made sides, including sweet and buttery Peruvian cornbread, garlic rice, chimichurri fingerling potatoes, and made-to-order cucumber, tomato, and avocado salads.
Sauces are also available, like creamy Aji Pollero, Tapenade Aioli, Fuego Baby hot sauce, and Rico Gravy made from slow-roasted chicken bones and aromatic herbs.
Sing Sing Willowbrook

Vancouver’s beloved restaurant for pho, pizza, and more, Sing Sing, has recently unveiled its third location, this time opening at Langley’s Willowbrook Shopping Centre.
This new location features an expanded menu built on the favourites from its original Main Street and Commercial Drive locations. Don’t worry, classics like the Brisket and Kimchi Pasta, Avocado and Crispy Tofu Bowl, and Chicken Katsu Sandwich are all on the menu, in addition to Langley-specific items like Short Rib Frites and Grilled Steelhead Salmon.
As for the space itself, the restaurant features an indoor/outdoor bar and multiple patio spaces, including an enclosed patio with double garage doors that roll up on sunny days as well as a fully open breezeway patio.

TeaByDo, which has a few locations in Toronto, has opened in Richmond.
If TeaByDo doesn’t ring any bells, it’s also known as Cha Panda outside of English-speaking markets. Cha Panda is a massive global bubble tea brand with over 9,000 stores around the globe. Some reports call it the third biggest brand in all of China, and investor filings and social media posts from the brand indicate that it sells over a billion cups of bubble tea every year.

Big Way Hot Pot — White Rock

Big Way Hot Pot officially opened the doors to its White Rock location at 1436 Johnston Rd. on Saturday, Aug. 29.
The chain of self-serve hot pot restaurants has taken the area by storm, expanding all across Metro Vancouver and beyond with no signs of stopping. Big Way has grown so popular that it quite often has multiple locations on the same block (like its two outposts in Burnaby) or just a couple of blocks away (like in Richmond).
Big Way gained its rise to fame through its pay-by-weight model. Guests are given a bowl and tongs when they enter and then are prompted to add whatever ingredients they want to their bowl from a wall of fridges, including plenty of meats, veggies, noodles, and more.

Pop Culture Dirty Soda

This is not a drill: Pop Culture Dirty Soda (a.k.a. the team behind Metro Vancouver’s first dirty soda trailer) has opened the doors to its permanent storefront.
Located at 20108 Fraser Hwy. in Langley, which was the former home of Lemon Bakery, Pop Culture officially opened last Friday.
If you’ve never had the privilege of trying a dirty soda, the viral drink is a soda that is enhanced with syrups and creamers. At Pop Culture, the menu features a rotating selection of drinks inspired by pop culture moments. Think drinks like the Short and Sweet (Dr. Pepper with raspberry, whipped cheesecake, and graham crumble), Peaches (energy drink with white peach, guava, and vanilla cream), and Fruity Pebble (Coke with pineapple, mango, strawberry cold foam, and fruity cereal).
At this new location, Pop Culture has increased its dirty soda menu, featuring a larger energy drink selection, alongside more cafe-inspired offerings (lattes, matcha, etc.), snacks, food, and somewhere for people to “sit, yap, and chill.”

Good Earth Coffeehouse — Indigo Metrotown
Good Earth Coffeehouse has opened the doors to its newest location inside Indigo Metrotown in Burnaby.
Located at 4700 Kingsway, the new location will be serving Good Earth’s signature collection of coffee, food, and more. The brand also shared that this new location reflects the “natural connection between Good Earth and Indigo, two Canadian brands committed to creating places where people can connect and enjoy meaningful experiences.”
“Here, we’re not just serving coffee. We’re excited to become a meaningful part of the local community and create a space where people genuinely feel welcome,” said Tara Tohidi, owner and operator of Good Earth Coffeehouse at Indigo Metrotown.
