After temporarily closing for a quick refresh, the much-loved Fraserhood French bistro Les Faux Bourgeois has softly reopened, with a grand opening scheduled for July 8.
In case you missed the news, the bistro is now being led by Gaia House, the team behind award-winning Nammos Estiatorio, Selene Aegean Bistro, and AMA.
Expect fresh seafood and oysters from the raw bar, including bites like Torched Prawn with spicy Clamato dressing and King Salmon with wild herb sauce.
Petits Plats will include returning favourites like Escargot en Cocotte and Tartare de Boeuf alongside new additions like Oeuf Mayonnaise with trout roe and white anchovy. As for Grand Plats, expect to find Steak Frites with sauce au poivre, Duck Bordelaise with pomme pavé, and Moules Frites in a bouillabaisse broth. Longtime fans of the restaurant will also be glad to hear that the French Onion Soup will be returning this winter as a seasonal dish.

Vancouver’s Chinatown just got a new spot for brunch now that Loreto has officially opened its doors.
Located at 219 Union St., the new Vancouver restaurant opened in the space previously occupied by Asian-fusion restaurant The Union (which closed in 2022) and La Cerveceria Astilleros.
On the menu at Loreto, you’ll find a selection of Mexican-inspired fare including the Chandwich (a toasted brioche bun layered with eggs, smoked bacon, melted cheese, avocado, tomato, and house chipotle mayo), the Loreto Meltdown (slow-braised beef birria and melted cheese pressed on toasted artisan sourdough bread and topped with pickled red onions and served with birria consommé for dipping), and Lecherita Pancakes (buttermilk pancakes mixed with banana and topped with coconut tres leches cream, fresh berries, house-hipped cream, toasted coconut, and roasted macadamia nuts).
The restaurant is also open for dinner, offering a selection of tacos, burritos, nachos, and more.

A new restaurant has just opened in Port Moody, and it hopes to be the “new star” in the Tri-Cities dining scene.
Called Nova (named after the astronomical term for a new star), the restaurant offers what it calls a “premium dining experience without the pretension.” Here, guests will find an inviting dining room, lively lounge, and a pet-friendly patio, in addition to live music on select nights and rotating seasonal features.
“We don’t believe excellence should come with barriers,” said General Manager Prashant Pandhi. “Nova was created because Port Moody deserves a restaurant where guests can enjoy exceptional food and drinks without having to travel downtown. More importantly, we wanted to bring back the kind of hospitality where every guest feels genuinely welcomed and appreciated. That’s the experience we’re committed to creating every single day.”

Located at the former home of Miku Richmond, Koi is a new concept brought to us by the team behind Kuns OMakase Sushi.
The Kuns team shared on Instagram last week that it would be closing its doors and moving to the River Rock Casino Resort soon under the new name.
“After many years of serving this community, we have made the difficult decision to close our doors. Thank you for your unwavering support, kindness, and loyalty throughout the years,” wrote the restaurant. “It has been an honor to welcome you into our restaurant and share so many unforgettable moments together. The memories we created with you will stay with us forever.”
A representative from the restaurant shared with Dished that at its new outpost, it offers a selection of signature sushi and handcrafted Japanese-inspired cocktails with stunning marina views.
