14 Vancouver restaurants were just named the best in Canada on prestigious list

The awards just don’t stop for Vancouver restaurants and bars, and a number of Vancouver eateries were just named among the finest in Canada by Canada’s 100 Best.
Monday night, Canada’s 100 Best revealed its 2026 ranking of the top restaurants in Canada, and 14 Vancouver spots made the prestigious list. These eateries were chosen by food critics, chefs, restaurateurs, food-savvy patrons, and industry experts from across the country who were selected to vote for the annual list.
Vancouver did not top the list — that honour once again goes to Restaurant Pearl Morisette in Jordan Station, Ont. — AnnaLena was the highest-ranked restaurant in the city, coming in at 12th.
“Mere steps from Kitsilano beach, this revered little gem has lost none of its lustre. There have been structural and decorative changes — and more are promised — but the room retains its relaxed and visually playful charm, with Lego sculptures, Star Wars memorabilia and other nostalgic bric-a-brac popping vividly against the dining room’s moody navy blue dĂ©cor,” wrote Canada’s 100 Best.

Specific dishes the awards gave light to were the “oysters crowned with apple-jalapeño mignonette and shaved foie gras” and the “torn bread with mussels and broth.”
“Exotic influences show up from time to time, based on Robbins’s travels: for example, a green curry marinade for black cod that is then cooked over charcoal, served with chanterelles, alkaline noodles and a mushroom-and-charred-onion tea,” added the publication.
Closely following AnnaLena is Kissa Tanto, ranked at 15, with Canada’s 100 Best praising its mix of fan-favourite dishes that have remained since the restaurant opened a decade ago and frequent specials that keep things fresh and seasonal.
“The ambience is another reason for the restaurant’s enduring popularity. Upstairs, in a nondescript building in Chinatown, soft lighting and rose-hued banquettes suggest a lot (tanto in Italian) of the jazu kissa (jazz cafĂ©s) of 1960s Tokyo. The drinks list adds to the mood of suave self-indulgence, with cult Japanese whiskies and sakes balanced by fine Italian wines and amari; creative cocktails fuse the two cultures together. Smart young servers are up to speed with the kitchen’s intentions and provenance of the first-class ingredients,” wrote Canada’s 100 Best.
Few will be surprised to hear that the recently Michelin-starred Sumibiyaki Arashi also made the list at 17, with the publication sharing, “If there were a temple to the art of grilling, it would resemble Peter Ho’s serene, clean-lined 14-seat yakitori counter at Sumibiyaki Arashi.”
Other Vancouver restaurants that made the list include Published on Main (20), Le Crocodile by Rob Feenie (26), June (29) Burdock & Co. (33), St. Lawrence (40), Boulevard (59), Chez Céline (60), Botanist (64), Bacchus Restaurant and Lounge (67), Elem (80), and Kavita (96).
