Vancouver restaurant listed as number one in Canada at Chinese Restaurant Awards

Earlier this month, the Chinese Restaurant Awards shared its list of 50 Honorees, 30 of which would make the award ceremony’s first-ranked list of Chinese restaurants in Canada. At the time, Metro Vancouver restaurants dominated the list, with over half of the recipients being from Vancouver and Richmond.
Now, the Chinese Restaurant Awards have revealed their Elite 30 Canada Awards and, to no one’s surprise, a Vancouver restaurant has taken the number one position, as well as
Dynasty Seafood Restaurant, located at 108-777 W. Broadway, Vancouver, was listed as number one in Canada.
This joins the literal wall of accolades that Dynasty Seafood Restaurant have collected over the years (there is literally an entire wall dedicated to awards at Dynasty). Here, the menu is miles long, with standout dishes including crispy duck, XO turnip cake, black bean spareribs and mango and grapefruit pudding, to name a few.

But Dynasty isn’t the only Metro Vancouver restaurant to have made the list, with four of the top five restaurants being from Vancouver, and a total of 19 Metro Vancouver restaurants landing on the top 30.
Chang’ An, located at 1661 Granville St., Vancouver, took the number two spot, while Landmark Hotpot House at 4023 Cambie St., Vancouver and celebrity-favourite Mott 32 at 1161 W. Georgia St, Vancouver (which also has a location in Toronto), took fourth and fifth, respectively.
“We are excited to finally debut a ranked list of Chinese restaurants in Canada,” said Rae Kung, managing director of the Chinese Restaurant Awards. “There is so much talent and such a diverse range of Chinese cuisines across the country — it felt like the right time to create a dedicated list that truly celebrates this culinary richness. Therefore, in Canada, we have our Elite 30 determined by such an esteemed group of taste advisors, who deeply understand and appreciate the traditions and evolution of Chinese cuisine, makes this inaugural list all the more meaningful.”
The list, which was drawn from the top 50 Honourees, is curated by the newly established Canada Taste Advisors Panel, which is chaired by founding judge Lee Man, who is regarded as one of the most influential voices in Vancouver’s Chinese dining scene.
The panel consists of 15 people with diverse backgrounds, united by the belief that Chinese dining is not defined by restaurants alone, but by the signature dishes that capture their essence through flavour.
“What sets our taste advisors apart from other accolades is these are individuals who have intimate knowledge of what Chinese cuisine is — they know its flavour, the history, and nuances because they have been eating it all their life. They are familiar with both the regional traditions and modern applications. Every recognition decided by our panel reflects genuine care in selecting our award winners,” explained Lee previously.
In addition to the Elite 30, judges revealed specialty awards — with Carol Lee of the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation being named Cultural Ambassador of the Year and Garley Leung of Dynasty Seafood Restaurant being named Dim Sum Chef of the Year — as well as their picks for The Critics’ Choice Signature Dish Awards.
