Koko Monk Chocolates – West Broadway

Local Vancouver chocolate maker Koko Monk officially opened their second location on October 16. Located at 2883 West Broadway, this is the second outpost for the sweet treat maker. The original Koko Monk, at 1849 West 1st Avenue, has been open since 2013.

Caffe La Tana

Caffe La Tana is owned by the same team and is located directly beside the new-ish East Van pasta joint, Pepino’s. Offering a variety of Italian specialties, patrons will be able to head to Caffe La Tana where it serves sandwiches, pastries, and espresso from its 635 Commercial Drive space.

Purebread – West Broadway

Purebread, one of Vancouver’s most beloved bakeries, quietly opened another location in the city, this time in Kitsilano. This will be the fifth bakery for the local chain, including the two in Whistler along with a Gastown and new Mount Pleasant location.

Sweet Jesus – Metrotown

This Toronto-based soft serve ice cream and treat purveyor just opened at Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby. Sweet Jesus Metrotown will be open Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 9 pm and Sunday from 11 am to 7 pm. Find it on the ground level of the mall just passed the Superstore entrance.

Tasty Indian Bistro – Yaletown
Tasty Indian Bistro already operates a very successful outpost in Delta, and they unveiled their stunning new Yaletown spot to patrons on October 12. Located at 1261 Hamilton Street, the new eatery is right across from Rodney’s Oyster House.

Jammer Cafe Motors
The spot quietly opened last week and is currently operating its cafe and restaurant from 8 am to 10 pm daily. The business’ motorcycle workshop and service centre will be opening on October 20.

Ugly Dumpling, a concept from owner Chef Darren Gee (Le Crocodile, Farmers Apprentice, Kinome), has officially opened in the former location of Merchants Workshop. The inspiration for the name of this new dinner-service-only joint comes from food that is real and honest in its form, and from what we can see, that’s exactly what patrons can expect from the East Vancouver gem.

Chewies Biscuit Co. opened at 2282 West 4th Avenue in the former location of Raviolino gourmet pasta and food in Kitsilano. The 25-ish seat casual eatery is a comfort food lover’s dream. The menu consists of nine varieties of savoury souped-up biscuit creations and four sweet flavours along with sides.

Downlow Burgers Pop-up
Vancouver’s newest spot to grab one seriously epic looking patty finally kicked off its weekly pop-up service on October 1. Downlow Burgers runs out of the same space as uber-popular Downlow Chicken Shack, located at 905 Commercial Drive, and it’s a new must-try for meat lovers.

A much-loved local pizza and pasta spot just opened a third location in Vancouver, in Olympic Village to be specific. Nook is one of the city’s favourite places to head for homemade Italian comfort food. The eatery currently operates two locations in the city one in the West End which does dinner and one in Kitsilano which serves a killer lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.
