Delish Gluten Free Bakery – Vancouver

Delish Gluten Free Bakery took over the former space of the recently-shuttered East Village Bakery at 2166 E Hastings Street. The bakery, which has a store location in Port Coquitlam, opened its Vancouver location this past weekend.

Ca Phe Vietnamese Coffee House
Daily Hive got the chance to head in and see what the new 16-seat concept located inside Chinatown House had to offer. Choose from varieties like strong Vietnamese coffee, strong iced coffee, egg coffee, and avocado coffee.

It’s been around a year since Hong Kong-style cafe Happy Date Bakery & Restaurant closed temporarily for renovations, and the wait for those killer fresh pineapple buns is over! Now named the Happy Day Cafe, the refreshed spot for breakfast, lunch, and dinner reopened as of February 20.

Ding Tea – Vancouver

The brand has over 600 stores worldwide, including two Canadian locations in Toronto and Victoria, but there will soon be a Ding in Vancouver. Patrons can head to this new spot from 11 am to 11 pm and enjoy FREE toppings and the ability to upgrade to a large size until the official grand opening on March 23.

Key Party
Key Party is brought to us by the same folks behind The Emerald, Narrow Lounge, Uncle Abe’s, and Rumpus Room. The new Main Street gem is an “open secret” spot and features a 40-seat lounge inspired by a “1970s house party.” Key Party’s cocktail program features drinks like the Spiced Sunrise, Coconut Cream Grasshopper, B-52, and Cherry Paralyzer, along with jello shots made from champagne and cassis. For grub expect eats like party mix, chili-cheese dip, and veggie tapenade to name a few. Key Party will be open daily from 5 pm till late.

JINYA Ramen Bar Express

JINYA Ramen Bar Express has officially opened its doors in Mount Pleasant, which means the brand now operates three Vancouver eateries (including Robson and Kerrisdale) in addition to its Burnaby outpost. The new restaurant at 159 West 4th Avenue replaced Q Shi Q Japanese BBQ and quietly opened to the public in February. Known for its authentic and award-winning Tonkotsu Ramen, JINYA offers a ton of customizable options for customers and a great selection of sides and shareables too.

Moderne Burger/Burgerette

After closing at their OG spot in Kitsilano, the eatery has announced they’ll be reopening at a new location and it will house two concepts. Patrons will soon find Moderne Burger’s epic shakes and eats at 865 West Broadway, but they’ll also find something new: Burgerette, a “slightly smaller” version of Moderne Burger. This spot will be opening on March 22.

The Study Public House
An epic new arcade pub is about to open in Metro Vancouver, more specifically, at Simon Fraser University’s Burnaby campus. The Study Public House will be opening soon in the former location of campus joint the Highland Pub, which shuttered in 2017.

The dare we say, legendary, all-day breakfast spot currently operates three Calgary locations and one Edmonton outpost, and they are about to break into BC’s brekkie scene. The purveyor of chef-driven drool-worthy eats like New York-style cheesecake stuffed French toast, breakfast poutine, and their signature takeout breakfast boxes will be opening a location in Vancouver at 1137 Marinaside Avenue (the former location of the Hurricane Grill).

The first-ever Vancouver location of the chain is aiming to open at 566 Granville Street next year. That address previously belonged to Urban Mongolian Bistro (sister restaurant to the Urban Sushi Cafe next door at 562 Granville Street) which closed two months ago. Hot-Star will be opening a Richmond location early next year before the downtown Vancouver one.
