'Heartbreaking': Much-loved Vancouver cafe announces closure after eight years

Joining the unfortunate growing list of closures in Vancouver, Their There has announced it will be closing its doors after eight years of operation.
“We have reached the end of our current lease and have not come to terms that align with our operations,” shared the cafe on its Instagram.
Their There first opened its doors in the summer of 2018, where it served an assortment of caffeinated sips, baked goods, sandwiches, salads, and a small selection of wine and beer.
The concept is a sister spot to chef-owner Mike Robbins’ Michelin Star-awarded AnnaLena, and was also the temporary launch space of the burger joint Hundy (which closed the doors to its Yaletown location earlier this year, too).

However, there is still time to visit one last time. Their There shared it won’t be closing until September.
“On a positive note, weāre in the best season for Kitsilano, and we have all summer to say goodbye to all of our favourite people. If you havenāt made it to Their There yet, we look forward to having you in!”
An exact closing date has yet to be announced.

Since the news of the closure, many have taken to the comments to share how devastated they are by the update.
“THE WORST NEWS š„ definitely making the most of summer visits,” said one person.
“And this is why nothing cool ever stays on west 4th ā small businesses are being priced out of Kits, and itās heartbreaking,” added another.
“This is horrible news š the price of commercial leasing has become so astronomical that we are losing some of the best shops Vancouver has to offer. Itās a hard pill to swallow,” shared a third.
