During the day, Murmur operates as a cafe, offering tea and coffee made with Honest to Pete beans, alongside a selection of bites and lunch items. Specifically, it serves a cinnamon bun that it claims could be the best in the city.

But, on weekend evenings, the menu changes to a prix fixe model, offering customers a three- or five-course dining experience.

Additionally, Murmur is not only a no-tip restaurant, but it also includes the tax in its prices.

Address:Ā 235 E. Broadway, Vancouver

Onda

Onda, brought to us by the same team behind Casereccio, specializes in what the team will be calling pizza, but explained to Dished that it’s technically something different.

ā€œOur main focus will be pizza: still Roman style (crunchy, airy, 90% hydration), but closer to what’s currently booming in Italy — pinsa romana,ā€Ā said Simone Tarallo, co-owner of Casereccio and Onda. ā€œIt’s a lighter dough, served in a rectangular shape. For the North American market, we’ll continue to call it pizza, but with this unique twist.ā€

Handson Steak and Frites

Handson Steak and Frites is a new steakhouse concept that opened on Aug. 8

ā€œAt the heart of Handson is our dedication to the perfect cut of steak and to the rituals that make each meal memorable,ā€ Chef Kyle told Dished.

Handson only sources prime, sustainably raised beef. The restaurant says it oversees everything from ā€œthe butchery and seasoning at your table to the final torch finish.ā€

Steaks here are cooked with ā€œa spin on classic techniques.ā€ That starts with pan-searing, butter-basting, and rapid-fire torching. There is also a live finishing station for diners to witness the final touches before their eyes.

Nook Coal Harbour

Nook has officially opened the doors to its latest location in Vancouver’s Coal Harbour at The Stack (a.k.a. B.C.’s tallest office tower, located a few blocks away from the Vancouver Convention Centre).

Expect everything that you’ve grown to love about Nook, from its house-made pastas and pizzas to its hospitality.

ā€œWe believe that neighbourhoods are better with a Nook,ā€ said Benjamin Cooney of Nook Restaurants. ā€œWith this location we wanted to create a space where people in Coal Harbour — whether they live here, work nearby, or are just visiting — can connect, relax, and share great food and drink. We’re excited to meet our new neighbours and future regulars.ā€
