New no-tip Vancouver eatery is a cafe by day and restaurant by night

Savoury things. Sweet things. This is how Vancouver’s new no-tip restaurant describes itself.
Hidden behind the scaffolding on E Broadway and Main Street is Murmur, one of the newcomers to the Vancouver dining scene. Despite its construction-ridden exterior, the restaurant promises that it’s still nice inside.
“Did you know that itās not actually ugly once you come inside?” wrote Murmur online. “Traditional hardwood, beautiful historical arches, and something about the way the light comes in.”
During the day, Murmur operates as a cafe, offering tea and coffee made with Honest to Pete beans, alongside a selection of bites and lunch items. Specifically, it serves a cinnamon bun that it claims could be the best in the city.
“Weāre not gonna put up a ‘#1 cinnamon bun’ sign in our window, but we could. Weāre not like that, though,” shared the restaurant.

Other notable offerings include items like pork and onion soup dumplings, a pulled pork sando, and a chicken adobo bowl, to name a few.
But, on weekend evenings, the menu changes to a prix fixe model, offering customers a three or five-course dining experience.
While Murmur is keeping things fresh by switching up the menu, some items the spot has served include an egg yolk croquette with cacio e pepe orzo and lemon herb chicken breast and thigh with lemon, browned butter, cream, beets, and Brussels.

Additionally, Murmur is not only a no-tip restaurant, but it also includes the tax in its prices.
“The price is the price at Murmur,” said the restaurant, also referring to itself as a “low math safe haven.”
