Three Vancouver spots added to prestigious, world-renowned guide for cocktail bars

Looking for somewhere new and exciting to grab a drink this weekend? Well, three Vancouver spots have just been added to the renowned Pinnacle Guide that you might want to check out.

The Pinnacle Guide is a renowned accolade of excellence for cocktail bars with a three “pin” system, where restaurants can receive one, two, or three pins. One pin means “excellent,” while two pins mean “outstanding,” and three pins mean “exceptional.”

The only way for a bar to be considered for a pin is self-nomination. One, two, or three pins are then awarded following spot-check interviews and multiple visits from anonymous, local reviewers.

“As well as recognizing excellence in drinks, ambience and hospitality, the Pinnacle Guide will be rewarding operators that make a positive social impact,” said the guide on its website.

As for which Vancouver spots made the list, two were given one pin for excellence, and one spot received two pins for outstanding.

Bagheera, the Chinatown speakeasy disguised as the Happy Valley Turf Club, received one pin.

Opened in 2023, Bagheera is brought to us by Lewis Hart and Brij Rathi, co-owners and co-founders of Three Kingdoms Hospitality and are also part of the team that created the Shanghai-inspired Chinatown speakeasy Laowai.

Cocktails here are period-inspired and named after various Kipling works, incorporating uncommon ingredients like saffron-infused gin and smoked paprika, among others.
As for bites, Bagheera offers a delightful pakora menu featuring meat, vegetarian, seafood, and vegan options, alongside share plates.

“The venue had cocktails that were well-balanced and provided a one-of-a-kind experience. The concept was woven through the whole experience beautifully and made for a delicious and creative dining experience,” wrote the anonymous reviewer for the Pinnacle Guide.

Those who want to enter Bagheera must do so by placing a bet on “King Louie.”

The other Vancouver bar that received one pin was Mount Pleasant Vintage and Provisions.

“We are extremely excited to announce we have been awarded a Pin from the renowned @thepinnacleguide — the 1, 2, and 3 Pin recognition system for the world’s best cocktail bars! The team has poured their hearts into this program, and we are so happy to share with our amazing guests that we are receiving this recognition!” shared the bar on Instagram.

Housed in a heritage home attached to a new development, Mount Pleasant Vintage and Provisions features vintage interiors and a standout patio.

You can find small plates like fondue, hand-chopped tartare, and flame-seared prawns alongside larger plates like its selection of handhelds. Plus, it offers a fun selection of house cocktails and frozen slushies (we’re particularly fond of the Frozen Vietnamese Coffee with St. Remy, Kahlua, West End Robusta Coffee, and Longevity).

“A counterculture cocktail bar and wood-fired grill that doubles as a vintage resale shop—homegrown design, serious drinks, and warm Vancouver hospitality,” wrote the Pinnacle Guide.

As for the Vancouver bar that received two pins, it’s none other than Prophecy.

“When a team as passionate, creative, and relentless as ours comes together, extraordinary things follow. We are truly honoured to be recognized alongside some of the top talents in the world, and receive Two Pins from the acclaimed Pinnacle Guide. Thank you to all the judges, writers, and critics – there’s always more to come from our incredible team,” shared Prophecy.

Opened last year, this cocktail bar is located under Vancouver’s Rosewood Hotel Georgia through the signature wooden door (if you know, you know) on the Howe Street side.
The cocktail menu here draws inspiration from “writers, poets, musicians, and artists.”

Every patron’s journey will be guided by the destination’s Cocktail Book, which offers sips in four palate preferences: spirituous, refreshing, herbaceous, or lush.

“Prophecy is a must-visit. I would take every out-of-town guest here to show off the best of our city. The space feels like it’s from both an opulent past era and a glamorous present,” said the anonymous reviewer for the Pinnacle Guide.

Currently, these are the only three Vancouver bars included in the Pinnacle Guide.
