Vancouver's new restaurant plans to be a rotating series of different short-lived dining concepts

Vancouver’s restaurant scene is constantly changing, with many restaurants closing and new ones opening in their place. However, the city’s latest dining concept is looking to capitalize on this constant change by utilizing the space to open multiple short-lived dining concepts one after another.

To start, the first restaurant to occupy this space is Mojo Cantina-Izakaya, which aims to combine Mexican street food with Japanese izakaya cuisine.

On the menu, you’ll find bites like udon mole, yakitori al pastor, flan brĂ»lĂ©e with miso caramel, and much more, alongside select cocktails.

However, this restaurant won’t be around for long. A representative from Mojo confirmed to Dished that it will operate until at least the end of the year, if not longer, before being replaced by the team’s next restaurant idea.

“Over the past summer, the team have been thinking a lot about what excites them most in this industry, and the answer is always the same: creating something new,” Mojo told Dished. “So instead of sticking to one fixed restaurant, they are turning this Mount Pleasant space into their ‘playground’ of sorts.”

There’s no timeline for when the next restaurant will open, but Mojo said that the team is always thinking of the next idea.

This new dining concept has opened in the former location of El Gato Gab Gab, a modern Mexican cocktail and snack bar that opened in August 2024.
