Acuyo joins the list of new Vancouver restaurants, offering a new spot in the city that showcases the depth, diversity, and sophistication of authentic Mexican cuisine. The restaurant was founded by four partners with roots in Guadalajara, Mexico, united by a shared vision to introduce Canada to authentic Mexican cuisine that is grounded in tradition and presented with elegance, care, and intention.

When it comes to menu specifics, highlights include Tableside Guacamole, which will be handcrafted tableside with avocado, tomato, onion, serrano, cilantro, and lime. There will also be a selection of tacos in flavours like Asadito (flame-grilled AAA ribeye with melted cheese, onion, cilantro, avocado salsa verde, and salsa roja served on fresh handmade tortillas), Taco Governador (sauteed shrimp with peppers and tomato in a crispy flour tortilla with melted mozzarella, avocado salsa, and salsa macha) and Taco Pesca del Dia (seasonal fish with zarandeado sauce served on handmade corn tortillas with slas macha, pico de allo, pickled onion, and avocado salsa).

There are also heftier entrees, including Zarandeado Octopus, which is marinated in adobo, grilled, and served in a charred banana leaf with papas and vegan serrano mayo.

Kohund

Folks who tried to visit Cowdog’s Oak Street location may have been surprised to see a new name above the door. But don’t worry, it’s part of the same team. Mariana Weffort, the general manager and head baker at Kohund, described it as Cowdog’s “maker sister.”

While these are two different concepts, there is some overlap in offerings.

For instance, you’ll continue to find some Cowdog favourites like pastéis de nata, the Cowdog cookie, cardamom buns, and its popular savoury croissant pillow with brie, thyme, shallots, and apple butter.

However, baked goods are definitely the star here, as Kohund is operating with a limited drink program. Namely, drip coffee, iced coffee, or frozen matcha slush (which you can add strawberry puree to).

Noct. Coffee is a new micro-roastery that is operating under a no-tip, living wage model.

The new cafe shared that it aims to offer a space for folks to slow down, stay a while, and feel at home, offering a “real third space for the neighbourhood.”

“We’ll also be crafting up some complex signature drinks that you’d find at a speakeasy bar, but they’ll all be zero proof, a.k.a. non-alcoholic! I’ve been hard at work really perfecting our initial signature drink launch menu,” added the cafe.

Additionally, the space is split into two different zones. One is the “re-connect zone,” where the cafe will encourage conversation and connection, while the “re-imagine zone” is for folks studying or working.

Also joining the wave of new Vancouver Restaurants is Ray’s, a new, 270-seat eatery that opened its doors in the former home of Yaletown Distillery. Here, it offers what it calls a “day-dinner-dark dining experience,” presenting guests with a vibrant setting that evolves from day to dinner to late night.

Plus, the restaurant is also offering some very affordable options. Think smash burgers, comforting pastas, and plenty of cocktails. In fact, it’s so affordable we were able to manage a multi-course dinner for two (which included drinks) for just under $100 — something very hard to find in Yaletown.

NaMi Oceanic

NaMi, a name that has become ubiquitous with delicious banh mi and Vietnamese iced coffee, has opened a new Coal Harbour location.

This new outpost is more food-focused than its other locations, offering plenty of Vietnamese grab-and-go options for those on the run, including banh mi and vermicelli bowls. This location also features a drink pick-up window, where customers can enjoy its aforementioned Vietnamese iced coffee and matcha offerings (made with Paragon matcha, one of the top matcha providers in Vancouver).
