Much-loved burger joint and speakeasy closes after eight years in Vancouver

Popular burger spot Hundy Burger and speakeasy The Stock Room (which operated in the back of the Yaletown burger restaurant) have shared that they have closed their doors after eight years of operating in Vancouver.

A representative from Freehouse Collective — formerly the Donnelly Group, which owns Hundy Burger and The Stock Room, as well as other popular Vancouver establishments like Lamplighter, Clough Club, Sing Sing, and more — shared that both Hundy and The Stock Room had closed, in addition to Vancouver nightclub Isabelle’s.

“We’ve spent the last few years reorganizing Freehouse Collective to ensure we’re stronger and more focused than ever. As part of this evolution, we’ve made the decision to sell the home of Isabelle’s, Hundy, and The Stock Room,” wrote Freehouse.

Freehouse Collective also added that there are currently no plans to open new locations of these concepts, but that doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of them.

“We’re already cooking up new spaces across Metro Vancouver and look forward to sharing what’s next for the Freehouse portfolio,” they added.

Hundy Burger first got its start back in 2018 in Kitsilano, before moving to its Yaletown outpost.

As for the future of the space of Hundy Burger and The Stock Room, Freehouse shared that they had sold the space to The Key Collection team, adding that their “appetite for hospitality in Vancouver is insatiable.”

You may recognize The Key Collection name as the team behind the caviar-forward eatery Osetra Coastal Cuisine, which opened its doors on the corner of West Georgia and Homer at the former home of Bar Haifa. At Osetra, the team is serving a selection of memorable bites, including a Fior di Latte and lemon gelato that is topped with a generous serving of Osetra caviar and drizzled with single-origin olive oil.

“We’re fans of their vision and can’t wait to see what they do with the building,” said Freehouse.

As for the new The Key Collection concept, we only know that it will be by the name Molotov. Other than that, no details have been shared on the new venture. Be sure to check back here for more information soon.
