18 can't-miss food events happening in Calgary in July

YAHOO! Stampede season is officially upon us, and July is absolutely packed to the brim with epic food events in Calgary.

From stampede breakfasts, barbecues, patio parties, and so much more, the city is alive with plenty of foodie fun to sink your teeth into.

If you’re trying to plan out your month, here are some of the food events you won’t want to miss in July.

One-time-only events

Mexifest

This family-friendly event highlights the very best of Mexican culture, from entertainment to arts and, of course, cuisine. Vendors will be serving up Mexican food and beverages to enjoy.

Whiskey Rose and Cold Garden Beer Garden

Touted as 17th Avenue’s “largest beer garden,” Whiskey Rose and Cold Garden are teaming up for one weekend only. There’ll be delicious eats, live music, and of course, plenty of beers to keep the party going.

When: July 5 to 7, 2024

Bastid’s BBQ

July 6 will see the return of the annual Bastids BBQ, with music courtesy of world-renowned DJ Skratch Bastid and special guests. There’ll be plenty of mouth-watering eats to check out while you enjoy the sunshine.

Fonda Fora Patio Party

Mexican spot Fonda Fora is throwing an epic Stampede Pet-Friendly Patio Party. There’ll be margaritas, good food and plenty of puppies. Proceeds from the event will go to AARCS. Be sure to reserve your space on the patio.

Prasatko Stampede Party

This pop-up is back once again and throwing its very own Stampede party with a Czech twist. Treats such as pickled camembert and goulash poutine will be on the menu, as will Czech-style beers and spirits. There will also be live music from the Slovak band Just Like Dis.

Dollyfest

In a country music-heavy month, a celebration of the one and only Dolly Parton is a must. Three separate events include a Dolly-themed pancake breakfast, a Dolly-themed drag brunch hosted by Karla Marx and Smokey Waters, and an afternoon of musical acts covering Dolly tunes.

Stampede Chef Showdown

The Stampede Chef Showdown will return for its second year at The District at Beltline. Six of the city’s top chefs will compete against each other to win over not only a panel of judges but also food enthusiasts.

Cowboys BBQ Cook Off

Hosted by the Strongest Chef in the Military, Chef Andre Rush, this huge BBQ celebration will see teams compete to show off their best pork and beef rib dishes. It’s a must-see for YYC’s carnivores.

Fiestaval

A weekend celebration of Latin America will be coming to the city in July. Over 30 food vendors will be gathered at Olympic Plaza to serve treats. There will also be a beer garden, live entertainment, and an artisan market to browse.

Scoop Slam 2024

Foothills Creamery is celebrating National Ice Cream Day in style with an afternoon of free ice cream. Contestants will also compete in an all-you-can-eat ice cream eating contest.

Inglewood Sunfest

This huge market will see over 200 vendors take to the streets of Inglewood. There’ll be market stalls, live entertainment, food trucks and a family-friendly beer garden.

Vanderbrunch with Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz

The infamous Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz will be jetting to Cowtown from LA to host a huge brunch at The Banquet Mahogany. The event will have a live DJ, welcome mimosas, Vanderpump trivia, and a candy bar.

Banffchella
