20 best Vancouver food events to check out in February

We’ve made it through the first month of 2020, Vancouver.

The weather was less than satisfactory, but we survived and thankfully, the awesome selection of epic food and beverage events continues into February.

This month has some of the city’s favourite winter events like the Hot Chocolate Festival, La Poutine Week, and of course, all the Super Bowl parties and Valentine’s Day treats you could dream of.

Dine Out Vancouver 2020

This annual festival boasts 17 days of culinary experiences, from guided dining adventures, brunch crawls, cocktail masterclasses, wine debates, guest chef dinners, BC VQA wine and craft beer tastings, to street food markets and more.

West Craft’s Sunday Service

West Craft (Hopwired Festival, Fruit Beer Fest) will be setting up shop at East Vancouver’s Prototype Coffee every Sunday until February 2. The temporary residency will offer patrons rare and hard-to-find craft beers alongside Prototypes coffee and snacks, and proceeds go towards supporting the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. West Craft will also be collecting non-perishable food items.

La Poutine Week Vancouver 2020

The fest takes place during the first week of February. The dining public can eat and vote on their favourites before a winner is announced at the end of the week. As always, February 1 will mark the kick-off of the self-proclaimed “biggest poutine festival in the world,” and it will run until February 7.

Street Food City 9

Now in its ninth year, the food truck extravaganza offers foodies a rotating selection of purveyors outside the Vancouver Art Gallery, in šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énk Square, on the north side of the building. This year the festival will feature 25 awesome food trucks and carts, so it’s a good thing entry is FREE, leaving you more cash to spend on some epic eats.

Bells and Whistles’ Sunday Night Movie Series

This month Bells and Whistles is getting festive with screenings of Groundhog Day (February 2), The 2020 Academy Awards (February 9), Footloose (February 16), and Road House (February 23).

Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival 2020

The annual celebration of all things hot chocolate kicked off on January 18 and runs until February 14, 2020 – which means you have tons of time to try all 44 of the participating “chocstars” at this year’s fest, all of which are local purveyors.

Dinner With A View – Vancouver

Inside guests will find luxurious pillows, blankets, and decor as they enjoy a three-course meal prepared by a celebrity chef. Diners can choose between blind menus, which will accommodate several different dietary restrictions including meals that can be made meat, fish, and vegan-centric.

Benny Bonanza at Joe Fortes

Benny Bonanza, an uber affordable mid-morning weekend promo at Joe Fortes, is officially returning to the Thurlow Street restaurant starting February 1. From February 1 through March 1 on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am to 3:30 pm, patrons can order three of Joe Fortes’ signature eggs Benedict for just $12.95 each.

Vancouver International Wine Festival 2020

This year the highly-anticipated event will take place from February 22 to March 1, 2020, and it will feature 164 wineries from 15 countries. Known as “one of the biggest and oldest wine events in the world,” the festival will feature a plethora of French wineries (43 of them), the showcase region for 2020.

Winter Wonderland Afternoon Tea at the Trump Champagne Lounge

Available daily from now until March 22, 2020, from noon to 4 pm, this festive tea is $65 per person or $118 per person for an additional box of macarons and a glass of bubbles.
