Vancouver International Film Festival 2025

What: Grab the popcorn and don’t forget the butter because one of the largest film festivals in North America is returning to Vancouver this fall.

The 2025 Vancouver International Film Festival is taking place from Thursday, Oct. 2 to Sunday, Oct. 12.

Movie lovers will discover 170 features and 100 shorts from around the world at the festival’s 44th edition. The festival will also include insightful talkbacks, conferences, live performances, and other special events.

PumpkinFest in West Vancouver

West Vancouver’s biggest fall community event returns on Sunday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the West Vancouver Community Centre.

PumpkinFest is a family favourite featuring live music, a pumpkin patch, pony rides, a petting farm, and plenty of harvest-themed fun. The event also includes a farmers market and activities for all ages.

Tickets go on sale starting Sept. 10 at 9 a.m., both online and at the community centre front desk. Proceeds help support Enhance West Van’s programs across the community.

Vancouver Horror Show Film Festival

What: ‘Tis the season for macabre movies, and horror fans will be in heaven when the Vancouver Horror Show Film Festival (VHS) returns this month.

The eighth annual VHS is haunting screens in Vancouver from Wednesday, Oct. 15 to Sunday, Oct. 19, and includes a special 30th anniversary screening of Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight.

Set against a score of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, pop music, and birdsong, Léveillé uses the mechanics of arms, legs, torsos and skulls to plumb the very nature of the human condition. This farmers market began back in 1995 and became the cornerstone of the Vancouver Farmers Market collective of markets. One of the most popular markets, Trout Lake has food trucks on-site and a variety of vendors selling fresh local produce, locally made goods, and all things food.

Kitsilano Farmers Market

What: Kitsilano Farmers Market takes place on Sundays in the parking lot of the Community Centre and offers a good selection of fresh local produce and gourmet treats to stock up on for the week. There are also a number of artisan vendors and food trucks to check out at the market.

Ambleside Farmers Market

What: This popular seasonal farmers market takes place in Ambleside Park, at the foot of 13th Street, from May through October. Pick up fresh local food and goods from crafters and food artisans at this West Vancouver gathering spot.

When: Every Sunday until Oct. 6, 2025
Time: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Ambleside Park – 1000 Argyle Ave. (the end of 13th Street), West Vancouver

Downtown Farmers Market

What: The pedestrian-friendly setting of the šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square (Vancouver Art Gallery North Plaza) welcomes visitors to check out more than 25 vendors and farmers every Wednesday afternoon. Shop for produce, artisan goods, and more.

When: Every Wednesday until Dec. 17, 2025
Time: 2 to 6 p.m.
Where: šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square (Vancouver Art Gallery North Plaza) – 750 Hornby St., Vancouver (Last four dates will move to South Plaza off Robson Street.)

Burnaby Artisan Farmers Market

What: Launched in June 2008, this open-air market offers visitors an assortment of food and craft stalls to peruse. Shop for fresh fruits and veggies as well as artisan goods while you listen to live entertainers.
