A killer comedy show is coming to Granville Island this Halloween season

We’ve heard of a killer comedy show, but the latest production by The Improv Centre on Granville Island is taking things to the next level.

This Halloween season, the improv theatre company presents I Know What You Did Last Weekend. The show runs every Friday and Saturday from Friday, Sept. 19 to Saturday, Nov. 1.

There will also be a special opening night performance on Thursday, Sept. 18 at 7:30 p.m., and additional shows on Thursday, Oct. 23 and Thursday, Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m.

According to Jalen Saip, artistic director of The Improv Centre, I Know What You Did Last Weekend will be a treat for fans of the film franchise as well as those looking forward to Halloween during the comedy show.

“With the recently released reboot and an ensemble that enjoys playing multi-character worlds, this seemed like a fun way to lean into the Halloween and fall season while putting a ridiculous spin on something normally meant to be frightening,” said Saip in a release.

I Know What You Did Last Weekend is described as a hilarious homage to the 1997 cult classic I Know What You Did Last Summer and the recently released 2025 reboot, with an improv twist.

“Working backwards in the timeline will be a fun challenge for the performers, and exploring backstories for their characters will inform their motivation as the plot thickens,” added Helen Camisa, TIC improviser and co-creator of the show with Saip.

The tribute to ’90s teen slasher films begins with a murder based on suggestions from the audience and then dives into a world of secrets, betrayals, and laughs.

Which character dies, and how they meet their untimely end, is up to the comedy show crowd each night. With over-the-top rivalries and petty grudges threatening to tear the group of friends apart, you’ll be on the edge of your seat as the truth about what happened last weekend is revealed.
