As the summer ends and the air turns crisp, Gateway Theatre is getting ready to light up the stage with a season full of heart, laughter, and unforgettable performances.
From a cultural celebration to a comedic twist on a classic and a beloved family musical, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this fall and winter.
Here’s a look at what’s coming up! (P.S. You’ll want to grab your tickets early!)
To the Moon: Mid-Autumn Celebration
Back by popular demand after last year’s sold-out success, To the Moon: Mid-Autumn Celebration is a dazzling concert that blends Chinese cultural tradition with family-friendly entertainment.
Taking place on Oct. 5, this event will include activities in Gateway Theatre’s lobby, a complimentary mooncake courtesy of Anna’s Cake House, and a musical performance by the talented Renee Fajardo in the Minoru Chapel next door. This year’s lineup features Disney favourites, Broadway and movie musical hits, and even “Golden” from KPop Demon Hunters.
If you’re not familiar, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional Chinese harvest festival. It’s a time of peace, prosperity, and togetherness, honouring the harvest moon when it’s at its fullest. Families gather to share mooncakes, light lanterns, and admire the night sky.
And Gateway will be bringing that spirit to life on stage with this can’t-miss event that captures the heart of the season.
Ms. Holmes & Ms. Watson — Apt. 2B
Think you know Sherlock Holmes? Think again! Ms. Holmes & Ms. Watson – Apt. 2B, running from Oct. 16 to Oct. 25, is shaking a classic detective story trope up with a feminist twist.
The story follows the eccentric Sherlock Holmes and her unlikely partner Joan Watson as they stumble through post-pandemic life. It’s filled with witty humour, goofy antics, and baffling characters.
For extra fun, snag tickets to the Pay-What-You-Will night on October 16 or the 2-for-1 ticket special on October 21. Just don’t wait too long — these deals always sell fast!
Annie
Closing out the season is a timeless classic that’s perfect for the holidays: Annie.
You know the story: she’s a loveable orphan with a heart of gold who wins over everyone she meets — from the tough girls at her orphanage to billionaire Oliver Warbucks. Join Annie on her adventure through 1930s New York as she takes on the wicked Miss Hannigan and gets into lots of fun-filled adventures.
Expect iconic songs, big laughs, and even a real dog onstage. This show runs from Dec. 11 to Jan. 3, 2026. There will also be a Pay-What-You-Will night on Dec. 11, as well as a 2-for-1 ticket special on Dec 16.
