A Vancouver bar was just named the best in all of Canada

North America’s 50 Best Bars just revealed its official selections for this year, and not only did multiple Vancouver spots make the list, but we are also officially home to the best bar in Canada.

The extended list featuring bars that placed 51-100 was revealed in March and included the likes of Bagheera (59), Meo (64), Laowa (72), and Mount Pleasant Vintage and Provisions (92).

Now, the bars ranked from one to 50 were revealed at the prestigious ceremony in Vancouver on April 22, where we learned that the highest-ranked spot in Canada was The Keefer Bar.

“Located within Vancouver’s historic Chinatown, The Keefer Bar has been an institution of the city for more than a decade. Where expansion and modernisation has eroded away some of Chinatown’s history, the bar uses its space to spotlight its history through a unique drinks programme that is inspired by old apothecaries,” wrote North America’s 50 Best Bars on its website.

Keefer Bar rose 21 places from its 2025 ranking, coming in at number seven and claiming the title of The Best Bar in Canada.

Following Keefer Bar, June on Cambie (which is actually brought to us by the same team) landed at 17 on the list.

“When the city’s OG craft cocktail bar opens a brasserie-inspired restaurant, you must grab a seat at the glowy, blush-pink bar. The Keefer Bar team (including beverage director Amber Bruce, who oversees both venues) hopped from Chinatown to open this bustling hotspot on a newly-groovy strip south of downtown in early 2025. The Deco-ish space, a craft beer bar and Italian restaurant in previous lives, got a copper-accented, sunset palate glow-up, courtesy Mexican architect Héctor Esrawe. Drinks like The Burnt Gibson, a classic made more umami with mignonette and peated Scotch, achieved instant fame. Foodies at the bar can order from the full menu, including the eye-popping Pasta for Rachel, an uncut sheet of Comté-stuffed raviolo dripping with Beurre d’Isigny,” wrote the award ceremony.

It also gave a special shoutout to Lala, the “not-so-secret” basement vinyl bar located at June.

But it wasn’t just The Keefer Bar team walking home with all the awards last night, as Prophecy, which the award ceremony called a “sexy, subterranean space” with “serious drinks and exuberant atmosphere,” placed on the top 50 list at 32.

The final Vancouver bar to make the list was the swanky, high-end restaurant located at Fairmont Pacific Rim, Botanist, placing at 38.

“In a sophisticated space that feels as bright and airy as the surrounding restaurant, the tight-knit bar team led by beverage director Grant Sceney draws inspiration from the natural bounty of the Pacific Northwest, sourcing and foraging local ingredients to mix into drinks that are equal parts showpiece and storytelling,” wrote North America’s 50 Best Bars, giving a shoutout to its Marine Martini — a drink with an extra dry profile meant to offer an excape from Vancouver’s rainy weather.
