Vancouver ice cream maker says emotional goodbye after nine years of business

When we reported that Say Hello Sweets had closed the doors to its brick-and-mortar back in February 2024, we held onto hope that the brand would find a new home to sell its plant-based treats. Unfortunately, it looks like that will not be the case.
Say Hello Sweets shared the news on Instagram that it will be ceasing the operations of its plant-based ice cream brand.
“After several months of silence, I have processed my sadness and finally found my voice to make this tough announcement. After nearly 9 incredible years of serving you, the time has come to say goodbye to my dairy-free ice cream business,” said Naomi Arnaut, owner of Say Hello Sweets.
Despite shifting her focus to retailers across B.C., she said she couldn’t overcome the hardships that came in the wake of the pandemic.
“It’s been a [challenging] road, and I had to make the decision to close the doors.

Say Hello Sweets got its start as an ice cream truck and opened its first brick-and-mortar in 2019. In 2024, the ice cream shop closed its doors. Since then, a new cafe, Annabelle’s, has opened up shop serving an assortment of house-made pastries and gelato.
