20-year-old Asian grocery store to expand with new Metro Vancouver location

Heads up, Metro Vancouver: a new Asian grocery store is opening in Burnaby.
Signs for Smart N Save have popped up at 5208 Rumble St. This spot was previously the location of a 7-Eleven.
Not much is known about this new location, but Smart N Save is not an unfamiliar name in the Metro Vancouver grocery scene. Its first location in Richmond has been around since 2004.

The chain is best known for its variety of Asian snacks, drinks, candy, and groceries.
“At Smart N Save, our goal is to reinforce the Asian-Canadian identity and experience by bridging cultures through food. This is made exemplary through a diversity of food products reminiscent of homes across Asia. Customers will find a wide variety of kitchen wants and needs suiting their cultural palates and gastronomical interests,” said the grocery store on its website.
In February 2025, Smart N Save opened a new cafe concept at Marine Drive Canada Line Station in Vancouver. The Google listing for this new location refers to it as a grocery store and cafe, meaning that the cafe concept could be expanding and operating out of the store as well.
An exact opening date has yet to be shared for Smart N Save Burnaby. Dished reached out for more details.
