Vancouver's new ice cream parlour has quietly opened its doors

Popular Vancouver ice cream truck, Say Hello Sweets, has quietly opened its permanent storefront.

After pushing through obstacles like its truck being broken into and robbed last month, Say Hello Sweets is now operating under soft opening hours at 620 Quebec Street in Chinatown (the former location of Pazzo Chow).

The local maker of delicious non-dairy ice cream, ice cream sandwiches, and milkshakes, now lives in a 963-sq-ft space, mostly dedicated to production.

Ice cream lovers can take a seat at a handful of tables and bar seats too, along with some outdoor space that will be available during the warmer months.

Folks can expect a “modern take on retro ice cream parlours” with black and white checkered flooring and bright colours.

In terms of eats, Say Hello will offer a full coffee bar with locally roasted beans from Spent Grounds and pastries from local bakers (Yellow Basket Baking and Flourgirl) alongside house-made desserts, ice cream, and ice cream novelties.

Some treats to look forward to include ice cream cake by the slice (in addition to custom ice cream cakes), a Toasted Marshmallow Milkshake, Ice Dream Sandwiches (classics and rotating feature flavours), house-made gluten-free waffle cones, and Honey Box Toast.

As a nod to the former tenant, Say Hello Sweets will offer Pazzo’s line of Italian sauces called Sugo Sauce, so people can still get a taste of the brand in the same location.

Say Hello customers are also are entitled to one-hour free parking in the parkade above the shop.

This spot is now soft open, so you’re likely to find it open if you stroll by. Official opening hours are to come.
