The best concession stands in Vancouver, according to our readers

Vancouver is home to many excellent restaurants, which you know since you’re an avid Dished reader, but sometimes you want to skip the Michelin-starred spots and want a more casual and convenient meal instead. That’s where the concession stand comes in.

However, with so many options in the city, it can be hard to narrow down which concession stands are worth visiting. That’s why we asked our Instagram followers for their favourite spots, and they definitely delivered.

Whether it’s ramen on the beach or a three-foot-long hot dog, these are the Vancouver concession stands serving standout eats, according to our readers.

Batch Kitsilano

Perhaps the most recommended concession stand on our list, Batch Kitsilano is a fan favourite among many Vancouverites. It’s been known to collaborate with many Vancouver restaurants, including Monarch Burger, Juke Chicken, and Yes, Please (we were very fond of the Yes, Please Burger, which is a beef patty with crispy mortadella and Swiss cheese topped with giardiniera and chipotle burger sauce on a sesame seed bun).

And before you ask, yes, you can order beer and other alcoholic beverages here.

Currently, Batch is only open on sunny weekends, so be sure to check its social media to make sure it’s open. But don’t worry, its official spring opening is scheduled to happen soon.

For those who can’t wait for warmer weather, they can also visit Batch at Plaza of Nations to enjoy live music and tasty bites and sips.

Address: 2305 Cornwall Ave., Vancouver

Third Beach Concession

This concession stand is known for selling one of the least typical concession stand offerings over the years: ramen.

While that may not be the most beach-friendly option, you can also find your standard burger and hot dogs here. Plus, for those wanting a midday pick-me-up, it serves an assortment of coffees and flavoured lattes, including unique flavours like Raspberry Truffle and Coconut Cream. Offerings are subject to change, so arrive with an open mind and a hungry stomach.

Sunset Beach Concession

For those Vancouverites looking to spend a relaxing day at Sunset Beach, there’s no more convenient spot to grab a bite than Sunset Beach.

Like many of the spots on this list, you’ll find burgers and hot dogs. But this stand’s claim to fame is its Salmon Burger. Plus, with drink offerings like kombucha and an assortment of frozen desserts, there’s something for everyone here.

Jimmy’s Lunch

When somewhere has been serving up burgers since 1929, you know it’s got to be good.

Now run by Jimmy’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren, this spot serves each of its famous burgers and hot dogs with a pile of caramelized onions. However, you’ll only be able to enjoy these tasty handhelds during the PNE Fair, making these burgers all the more exclusive.

While baseball may be the draw for many Vancouverites visiting the stadium, for us, it’s the food.

We’ve enjoyed many bites over the years here, including the Crab Hot Dog (Nathan’s hot dog topped with fresh Dungeness crab and garlic aioli, served on a crusty bun) and the Pulled Pork Tottine (Cavendish tater tots topped with cheese curds, tangy Carolina BBQ pulled pork, and smothered in hot gravy and green onions).

We also can’t write about Nat Bailey Stadium’s food without mentioning the yard dog: a three-foot dog available at every game with your choice of toppings. Michael BublĂ© has even enjoyed this massive hot dog creation. Share it with your friends or devour it all on your own; we won’t judge.
